Self-directed photography/video
• participants are provided with photo or video
cameras, clear instructions and a structured
diary.
• They are asked to document parts of their daily
life and activities related to the research topic
• Analysis of the collected images can provide
insight into the activities, needs, and motivations
from an internal perspective
Research Project
Assignment (40%)
• Define your research topic (what do you want to
find out/test?)
• Choose the appropriate method (questionnaires
or think aloud method?)
• Define your sample (who will be the participants/
respondents? How to make them participate?)
• Check the lectures and your notes and make sure
you understand and remember all the important
things you need to take into consideration beore
and while researching
• Do the research! (design and distribute
questionnaires or conduct think aloud sessions)
• Take notes during and about the whole research
process
• Describe your research experience and findings in
a research report
Research Report
• The report should be written in an essay
form (2-3 pages) and include the following:
– Introduction about the topic and research
question(s)
– Description of the whole research process and
experiences
– Conclusion about the results of the research
or/and suggestions for further research
– A copy of the questionnaire or a sample of a
think aloud protocol
