WHAT IS DENGUE
FEVER?
CAUSED BY THE DENGUE VIRUS

Transmitted by Aedes aegypti and Aedes albopictus mosquitoes

Common in tropical and subtropical regions

Four serotypes: DENV-1, DENV-2, DENV-3, DENV-4

SYMPTOMS OF
DENGUE FEVER
1.High fever (104°F or higher)
2.Severe headache
3.Pain behind the eyes
4.Joint and muscle pain
5.Skin rash (appears 2–5 days after fever starts)
6.Mild bleeding (nosebleeds, gum bleeding)
SEVERE DENGUE

• Severe abdominal pain
• Persistent vomiting
• Difficulty breathing
• Internal bleeding
• Can lead to shock, organ failure, or death
