CROSS OVER
Cross over is the small length of Track linking UP and DOWN
Line tracks normally provided at Block stations to facilitate Single
Line working in case of Breakdowns or failures. It is also required
For shunting movements within the station limits between
UP and DOWN lines.

A rail bond is used
for maintaining
continuity of the rail
circuit at rail joints,
points and
crossings. This bond
is also known as
Longitudinal bond
or Continuity bond.

LONGITUDINAL BOND ACROSS
SWITCH EXPANSION JOINT
STRUCTURE BOND
• A bond connected between OHE mast(
or any other metallic structure like
FOB/ROB/Fencing) and nearest
traction rail of the track for the
purpose of human safety and
equipment protection in case of
Insulator flashover/short circuit faults
on OHE structures.
STRUCTURE BOND
A rail bond used
for connecting
together two
non track
circuited rails of
a track or rails
of adjacent
The above bond is also called
Inter Rail (IR) bond. tracks.
Cross bond between traction rails of up and
down line tracks of double line section(Inter
Track Bond)
A special rail bond
connected across
Glued joint (Electrically
insulated rail Joint)
between traction rails
(Negative Polarity rails)
in DC Track circuited
area for the purpose of
traction return current
continuity.
IMPEDANCE BOND
A special rail bond connected across
Glued joint (Electrically insulated rail
Joint) between traction rails where DCTC
and AFTC terminate for the purpose of
traction return current continuity. This
bond offers high impedance to signaling
current and low impedance to traction
return current.

1.0 INTRODUCTION
Auxiliary transformer, 25kV/ 240V, 50Hz single phase, is
a static device and works as a step down transformer
which transforms power from one ac circuit to another ac
circuit at the same frequency.
Auxiliary Transformers in electrified sections are for the
following applications.
1.Colour Light signals
2.RRI/EI Cabins
3.Signal Block/Cable-huts
4.Level crossings gate signals.
5.Traction Substations
6.Feeding and Switching posts

Span
The distance between
the centre lines of the
adjacent supporting
masts for overhead
equipment/lines.
Maximum span length
72 M., Minimum span
Span length 18 M. It must
be in the multiple of
4.5. Length of span is
governed by
curvature, blow off,
