when you use digital devices like computers, smartphones,
and tablets.

Examples:
• Social media posts, comments, and likes.
• Emails and messages you send.
• Websites you visit and the searches you perform.

04
Why Digital Prints Matter?
Importance: Digital prints can affect your online reputation and privacy. They can
be used by others to learn more about you or even influence decisions about you.

Examples:

• A positive digital footprint can help in job applications or school admissions.

• A negative or careless digital footprint could lead to privacy issues or trouble.

05
How can digital footprints be used?
A digital footprint is a record of your online activity that can be used in many ways,
including:
1. Employment screening
Recruiters often use internet searches to learn more about candidates.
2. Targeted advertising
Online stores can use your digital footprint to identify your interests and
preferences, and then target you with personalized ads.
Cybercrime
Cybercriminals may use your digital footprint to steal sensitive information like
passwords, account numbers, or social security numbers.
Criminal cases
Text messages and emails can be used as digital evidence to reveal
communication between parties, which may help uncover motives or
intentions.

As a teacher, I appreciate how the 'Your Digital Footprint' lesson effectively introduces Grade 6 students to
the concept of digital footprints. The lesson's combination of simple explanations, relatable examples, and
interactive activities made the topic accessible and engaging. My students were excited to create their own
digital print maps and reflect on their online behavior. This lesson not only educated them about digital
