OBJECTIVES

PYROMETRY

TUS AND SAT TESTS

NADCAP
• Temperature is a fundamental parameter in metallurgical furnace operations

• Reliable and continuous measurement of metal temperature is essential for

PYROMETRY effective control of the process

• Pyrometry is a measurement for high temperature

• Pyrometer is a device to measure temperature

PYROMETRY

Non-contact pyrometer Pyrometer system with thermocouple and controller

PYROMETRY
Thermocouple
• Thermocouples are temperature sensors used in
science and industry.
• Any two wires of dissimilar metals in contact will
produce a voltage when heated; however, some alloy
combinations are standard due to their output level,
stability and chemical properties.

National Aerospace and Defense Contractors

Accreditation Program is company level accreditation
based on specific processes used by aerospace
suppliers such as chemical processing, coatings,
conventional machining, heat treating, nondestructive
testing and welding.

The Nadcap program offers the opportunity for

suppliers to gain tighter controls within their special
processes, provides the forum for a voice in the
establishment of audit requirements, networking, and
market recognition.
How does the Nadcap process work?

• The Performance Review Institute (PRI) manages the

Nadcap program.

• PRI will organize an audit and assign an approved auditor

to conduct the audit in accordance with a manufacturing
standard and checklist.

NADCAP • Any non-conformity issues will be reported at the end of

the audit, and non-conformance reports will be provided.

• The non-conformance findings will be completed out by

PRI, and the audit package will be given to a 'special
process' task group made up of industry members, who will
study all these and vote on its acceptability for approval.

• When all nonconformances have been resolved,

accreditation is obtained.
