E-payment
INTRODUCTION
E-payment is also called electronic payment ,Internet
payment and Web payment E-payment is an
inseparable part of E-commerce. E-paymen t is such
a payment system in which buyers and sellers do
online financial transactions. EPS reduces transaction
costs and consumes far less time in com parison to
non-electronic means of making payments.
Meaning & Definition

• E-payment refers to transfer of funds via


internet by electronic means such as
computers modile phones. E-payment does
not involve cash and paper cheque.
• Cash change hands primarily via chip card or
online banking
• WWW.bitpipe.com defines e-payment as ‘a
payment made via a wed browser for goods
and services using credit and debit cards’.
• The service is integrated with merchant
systems to accept modile payment for
various services. The customers,merchants
and banking system are the three
components of e-payment system
BENEFITS/FEAUTERS OF E-CHEQUES

1.E-cheques can be used for wed transactions. 2. E-


cheques providessupport for multiple
cheque books issued dy multiple banks
3.There is no limitation on the location of the user .He may
operate at home,Internet kiosk or office terminal.
4. .E-cheques can be re-sence .paymentwill be made only
once
5.Its working is like tradiontal cheque.
6. .E-chequesare also very useful for marking micro-
payments.

DEBIT CARD PROCESSING
• Online debit transactions require an authorization
directly fromThe bank where the accoumt
resides. Each time a merchant swipes an ATM or
debit card through a terminal;
• The terminal will rompt the cardholder to key in a
confidential PIN.
• The card issuing bank will not authorize the
transaction unless the pin is entered correctly.
• Debit trannsaction take no longer to process than
credit card transaction and are funed within 2 to
3 days after the batch is settled.
Security Issues in Debit card
• In the event of losses or theft of
credit sard, the card holder
should intimate immediately this
information to the issuing
institute.
• The card holder should always
remember his pin number. The
pin number should be selected
prudently in such a way that is
esay to remember and may not
beguessed by others.
The Negatives of Debit
Card
• The money is immediately
withdrawn from the account.
• You are charged a fee for a
transactions when you use your
PIN.
• In India, still one can not make
purchase with debit card in many
small towns.
• Sometimes all the ATM machines
in the proximity are either out- of
–cash or out-of-order.
WORKING OF DIGITAL
CASH
• Customers request taken to the
bank.
• Bank issue token to the
coustomer.
• Coustomer send token to the
merchant.
• Merchant verities the token sent
by the coustomer.
PROCEDURE OF NETCASH
PAYMENT
• Coustomer opens account with Netbank
and buys netcash coupon from the
bank.
• He makes purchases and sends Netcash
coupon to the merchant.
• The merchant sends the netcash coupon
to netbank for vertification.
• After vertification, as per the instructions
of the merchant, the netbank deposits
the mony into merchant’s accont or
sends him new coupon
ADVANTAGES OF
NETCASH
• 1.ANON YMITY:netcash is circulated
with anonymity i.e without
disclosing the identity of the parties
who transa acts though netcash.
• 2.Easy to Use: the procesin g of net
cash is very easy.
• 3.Flexible system: this system of
payment has greater degree of
flexibility.
• 4.Cost effective: this system of
payment is very economical.

CARD
• Getting a debit card is easier than
getting a creadit card and will often
be issued with a checking accound.
• You would not build up dept using
your debit card.
• Debit cards may be be more
readily acceptedby merchants the
cheque.
• It saves one from the risk of loss or
theft of money.
SMART CARD VS. DEBIT
AND CREADIT CARD
• Altrough smart card looks like a debit
card and credit card insize and shape,
but inside smart card is altoghter
different from debit and credit card.
• Debit/credit card is connected to a
specific account where money is
deposited.But a smart card is not
linked to any such account. It has
built-in value can be used as cash
where accepted.
Reliability and flexiblity
• Reliability : With the increase in
the trade via internet, the
development of a country
economy would depend on the
basic infrastructure of payment
system.
• Flexiliblity: The e-payment system
sould be flexiblity enoughto have
the provision of making payments
inmany different ways.
Anonymity and
Universailty
• Anonymity: the transactions must
remain confidential. This aspect
of e-commerce may be taken care
of in the near future.
• Universailty: An electronic
payment system should be
workable all over the world; i.e. it
sould be usable by any customer
or merchant regardless of what
browser softwerethey use or
what country they are in.
Utility of Smart card
• This card can reduce the fraud in
operation of ATMs.
• As smart card has memory storage
facility ,like bank account
numbers, etc.
• Card holder can not make
purchase beyond the specified
limited of the card.
• As compared to other cards, smart
card technology is more secure.
