    History Incorporated as Lohia Machines Private Limited at Kanpur in 1972 Engaged in manufacturing machinery for synthetic fibre . In 1978 it become a public limited company and change the name to LML Signed a technical collaboration agreement with Piaggio of Italy in 1984. 1984-98 LML launches the models like Vespa, NV, Sensation, Prithvi,Select and Supremo In 1998 the LML-Piaggio joint venture collapses

    In 1999 an agreement was signed with Daliem Motor Company of South Korea and enters the motorcycle market with Adreno and Energy. In 2006 strike forces shut down the Kanpur plant and hence it had stopped national wide sales. 2007-work resumes , but only LML NV is produced for the export market. Re-entered the market with the model Select in 2011.

    Current Status Re-enter the market with the model Select 4. Currently focusing on northern and eastern markets. Adopting phased growth strategy.(production limited to 7000 units a year) Have a strength of 700 employees. Currently there are 340 dealers in northern and eastern market.(majority in urban area) Exporting vehicles to around 35 countries. Follows a hub & spoke system in marketing.

    Future Plans
    Plans to enter southern market by 2013 Plans to retain 10% market share in motorcycle market and 20% in scooter market, Launch Indias first 200 cc geared scooter and relaunch LML Freedom , its best selling motorcycle. Through sub dealers LML plan to expand its dealership network to semi-urban and rural markets. Focus on export motorcycles to 12 countries . Selling spare parts online. Setting up training schools in Mumbai, Culcutta, Bangaluru, Kanpur and Noida.
