Sam Kennedy, the president and CEO of the Boston Red Sox, has been named CEO of Fenway Sports Group (FSG), according to a news release Friday. In addition, Billy Hogan, CEO of Liverpool, has been named CEO of FSG International.
The announcement came during FSG’s owners’ meeting in Bonita Springs, Fla. Kennedy and Hogan will work closely with FSG leadership to oversee management of FSG’s entire enterprise. FSG is controlled by principal owner John Henry.
Former Red Sox general manager Theo Epstein returned to FSG as a part owner and senior advisor in early February.
Along with the Red Sox and Liverpool, FSG owns the NHL’s Pittsburgh Penguins and NASCAR’s RFK Racing. The group also recently led an investment in the PGA Tour’s new commercial entity.
