DVD and Blu-ray Releases for August 10th, 2010

August 9th, 2010

There are not a lot of prime releases on this week's list, but there are a few that I'm interested in. Date Night is the biggest release of the week and depending on how strong its home market debut is, it could be a worthy pick up, or even a contender for Pick of the Week. I won't know till the screener arrives. Crumb's Blu-ray review was also a tempting choice for Pick of the Week. As was Bugs Bunny: Hare Extraordinaire and Daffy Duck: Frustrated Fowl. But in the end I went with Max Headroom: The Complete Series as Pick of the Week. More...

Still in Control on the Per Theater Chart

October 23rd, 2007

While there were plenty of new releases this past weekend, most failed to make an impact at the box office and that left Control an opportunity to capture first place with $19,121. This represents a drop-off of only 30% in its per theater average despite doubling its theater count. Meanwhile, Wristcutters: A Love Story opened in second place with an average of $14,269 in three theaters. Finally, Blade Runner managed more than $10,000 on the per theater chart for the third weekend in a row with $13,004. More...

Another week without any top-notch websites, at least one that hasn't previously won the award. At least there are a few with possibilities and the fall blockbusters should start coming launching their sites shortly so the pace should pickup soon. More...

Someone to Watch Limited Releases With

September 7th, 2007

It's still too early for Oscar worthy films to come up, but we do have a few films that are scoring with critics. The best of these is In the Shadow of the Moon, but my personal choice is I Want Someone to Eat Cheese With. Regardless, it will be tough for any of the films on this weeks list to see their theater count expand to triple digits. More...
