Ninja Assassin started its international run in sixth place with $5.30 million on 665 screens in 9 markets over the weekend for a total of $5.97 million. Most of those markets were in Asia, including South Korea, where it opened in second place with $2.97 million on 401 screens over the weekend and $3.55 million in total.

  • Mulan opened in China and a couple of other markets, and placed seventh internationally with $4.96 million on 629 screens in 3 markets.
  • Cado Dalle Nubi opened in first place in Italy and eighth place internationally with $4.48 million on 424 screens over the weekend.
  • De Dana Dan was the latest Indian film to open well in recent weeks, placing ninth with $4.37 million on 1,187 screens in 16 markets. Even if it collapses from now on, which is more likely than not, it has started well enough that it can be considered at least somewhat successful.
  • Law Abiding Citizen saw its box office rise 50%, but it still fell to tenth place with $4.05 million on 997 screens in 14 markets for a total of $13.71 million. The film struggled in its debut in the U.K. with $2.46 million on 353 screens, which was only enough for fifth place. Meanwhile it added $1.06 million on 302 screens over the weekend in Germany for a total of $3.14 million after two.
  • The Girl Who Kicked the Hornet's Nest just missed the top five in its debut with $3.93 million on 435 screens in 3 Scandinavian markets. The follow-up to The Girl Who Played with Fire and The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo looks to be another hit in Europe, but it likely won't make it here.
  • The Villain opened in 12th place internationally with $2.73 million on 358 screens, all but a rounding error was earned on 354 screens in France.
  • Dorian Gray returned to the chart in 13th place with $2.26 million on 229 screens in 3 markets for a still early total of $7.13 million. The film opened in fourth place in Italy with $2.03 million on 214 screens; however, it's per screen average was very nearly the best in the market, so one can consider it a pretty good hit so far there.
  • Cloudy With A Chance Of Meatballs also returned to the chart, earning $2.22 million on 1,048 screens in 19 markets for a total of $63.57 million. Of its weekend haul, the film made $1.40 million on 342 screens in Australia to give it $1.48 million in that market. With debuts in Spain, Italy, Germany, and other markets still ahead, it should have no trouble reaching $200 million worldwide, while $100 million internationally is not out of the question.
  • G-Force was aided by a $1.5 million opening on more than 300 screens in China as it rose to 15th place with $2.12 million on 1,368 screens in 11 markets for a total of $162.19 million internationally and $281.61 million worldwide. The film has yet to open in South Korea and Japan, but even if it reaches no further milestones, it has had an amazing run.
  • Komt Ren Vrouw Bij De Dokter opened in first place in the Netherlands and 16th place internationally with $1.95 million on 118 screens over the weekend and $2.29 million overall.
  • Na Igre opened in fourth place in Russia and 17th place internationally with $1.83 million on 607 screens in its native market.
  • Kurbaan fell from fifth to 18th place with $1.59 million on 1,103 screens in 16 markets over the weekend for a total of $7.18 million after two. This is not bad for an Indian film, but it might be hard for it to earn back its production costs.
  • Turkey is suddenly a hot movie market, as it had its second charting film in as many weeks. Neseli Hayat opened in 19th place with $1.53 million on 254 screens in 4 markets.
  • Up fell from seventh to 20th with $1.53 million on 1,628 screens in 19 markets for a total of $381.49 million internationally and $674.47 million worldwide. This weekend it opens in Japan and it could climb back into the top five.
  • Couples Retreat saw sharp declines this past weekend, falling out of the top five with $1.46 million on 785 screens in 24 markets for a total of $39.71 million.
  • Le Concert added $1.44 million on 378 screens in 3 markets over the weekend for a total of $10.31 million after four. It has now made $10.25 million after a month of release in France, including $1.69 million over the past full week.
  • No More Cry climbed a spot to third place in Japan but fell to 23rd place internationally with $1.43 million on 303 screens over the weekend for a total of $10.42 million after three.
  • Hong's Family Business opened in third place in South Korea with $1.36 million on 402 screens over the weekend and $1.64 million in total.
  • Zombieland returned to the chart in 25th place with $1.33 million on 292 screens in 11 markets for a total of just $12.29 million internationally. The film opened in sixth place in France with $1.36 million on 215 screens, but that was for the full week.
  • Nativity! opened in sixth place in the U.K. and 26th place international with $1.32 million on 346 screens. That's not bad, but not terribly great either.
  • District 9 returned to the chart in 27th place with $1.30 million on 989 screens in 10 markets for a total of $89.09 million internationally and $204.73 million worldwide.
  • White Night fell to fourth place in South Korea and 28th place internationally with $1.29 million on 300 screens over the weekend and $4.56 million after two.
  • The Imaginarium of Doctor Parnassus nearly fell out of the top 30 with $1.26 million on 409 screens in 8 markets over the weekend for a total of $25.38 million.
  • Valley Of The Wolves - Gladio fell to 30th place with $1.26 million on 378 screens in 6 markets, which is better than most Turkish films perform.
