Movie Website Updates for February 3 - February 9, 2007

Still waiting sites for the big summer blockbusters to come online. In the meantime, this week is relatively busy, but with only a couple sites that look like they could be award-worthy once the features are added. The best of the best, and I use that term loosely, is Norbit - Official Site with a site that could be more entertaining than the movie it promotes.

There's an update on the production blog. Actually, that happed a couple weeks ago but I missed it.
The trailer was added this week and it is so trippy I think I got a contact high from it. But while I got a sudden case of the munchies, I have no interest in seeing the movie. Now where did those nachos go?
The experience was added to the site. It has a page for each character and several video clips and even more audio clips in total. It's interesting, but I'm still not sure about the movie's chances.
A clip was added to the site, but since the word, 'clips' was used, I assume more will follow.
There's a lot of information here, but the site doesn't have a very professional feel to it. In fact, it feels quite scrambled.
Nothing.
Another blog added to the site and it includes interviews with Eva Mendes and Nicolas Cage talking about the love story aspect of the movie. There's also a section where you can use your webcam to make yourself look like Ghost Rider. I love the warning, 'We use specials. Don't light yourself on fire.' I assume this was put on the site by the request of a lawyer, but it sounds very funny to me.
Just the absolute basics, and nothing that really sells the film well.
Three clips were added to the site.
The game was added this week, and it's Pac Man, or at least a reasonably facsimile.
This site used to have the synopsis, image gallery, and the trailer, but now its down. I'll check back in a bit to see if it's back. ... It's back. On a side note, the trailer was really funny and sold the movie very well. Then again, I'm a huge fan of writer / director Judd Apatow, Seth Rogen, etc.
Just the basic with not enough style to stand out even during a slow week.
All the basics are here plus some background information on the history, the Stasi, etc. There are also several audio clips that play, but they fortunately include subtitles since not many people checking out the site will understand German.
Two semi-interactive features were added to the site. The interactivity is mostly limited to clicking the red words to get the next set of image / audio clips. But it does a fantastic job selling the film. So far two are up and two are marked coming soon; however, the two that are up have the video clips marked coming soon. At this point, once these features are added to the site, it has an excellent chance at being award-worthy.

Norbit - Official Site
The site has all the usual features, (synopsis, production notes, cast & crew bios, image gallery, and trailers); a ton of extras, (a couple games, soundboard, etc.); plenty of sound and animation. That should be more than enough to be in contention for the Weekly Website Awards. There is a small problem, however; the more I see of this movie, the more I want to avoid it. But in all fairness, this is more of an issue with the movie and not the site and I have given the award to good sites for bad movies in the past so I shouldn't punish this one. And with that in mind, this is the winner of the inequitable Weekly Website Award.

A game was added to the site. It's rather complex for a website game.
The site got a whole new look this week, but no new content.
The movie is about a signal that drives people to kill. Apparently the website is designed to do the same.
Nothing.
Another video blog was added this week.
Not much here and the site doesn't have a very polished feel. It's still better than the MySpace page.
Just the cast bios, image gallery, trailer, and a blog. There's nothing here that really sets it apart.
New blog entry, this time announcing the film's appearance at the WonderCon on March 4th.
The Timeline section was added to the site.
