HMF will employ wide-ranging sustainability measures--one of the most proactive efforts among the HMF calendar of events.

For HMFs relevant to severe convective hazards (e.g., UH, updraft speed, and 10-m wind speed), a square (4) neighborhood of 80 km x 80 km centered on each grid point is used to calculate the NMEP field with respect to selected HMF exceedance threshold(s), meaning the search "radius" is 40 km (although using a square rather than circular neighborhood).

[USA], May 4 (ANI): A team of researchers has found an efficient and economical process to produce plastic chemical -- HMF or hydroxymethylfurfural.

Hydroxymethylfurfural (HMF): It was determined by the AOAC method (958.09) where the absorbance of a filtered honey solution, after clarification with carrez solutions and addition of p-toluidine and barbituric acid solutions, is measured at 284 and 336 nm against a blank in the maximum color intensity (3-4 minutes after the barbituric acid addition) (Bogdanov et al., 2002).

This food naturally contain high levels of HMF [9], so the concentration of this contaminant in the cane syrup fermented beverages need to be monitored.
