Imipramine (Tofranil), nortriptyline (
Pamelor), desipramine (Norpramin) and amitryptiline (Elavil) are tricyclic antidepressants.
The National Pregnancy Registry for Antidepressants (844-405-6185) is studying amitriptyline (Elavil), amoxapine (Asendin), bupropion (Forfivo XL and Wellbutrin), Citalopram (Celexa), clomipramine (Anafranil), desipramine (Norpramin), desvenlafaxine (Prisiq), doxepin (Sinequan), escitalopram (Lexapro), fluvoxamine (Luvox), fluoxetine (Prozac), imipramine (Tofranil), isocarboxazid (Marplan), levomilnacipran (Fetzima), maprotiline (Ludiomil), mirtazapine (Remeron), nefazodone (Serzone), nortriptyline (
Pamelor), paroxetine (Paxil), phenelzine (Nardill), protriptyline (Vivactil), selegiline (Emsam), sertraline (Zoloft), tranylcypromine (Parnate), trazodone (Desyrel), trimipramine (Surmontil), venlafaxine (Effexor), and vilazodone (Viibryd).
If it's appropriate, some patients are treated for pain with anticonvulsants such as Lyrica or Neurontin or with selected antidepressants such as Cymbalta or
Pamelor.

Pamelor. Table 3: Distribution of bowel preparation-related variables by whether physician recommendation was guideline compliant or not (N = 456).
Older medications for depression include tricyclics (Elavil,
Pamelor) and MAO inhibitors (Nardil, Parnate), but these medications are rarely used, since the newer drugs are more effective and have fewer side effects for most patients.
1) Tricyclic Antidepressants (TCAs): These were among the first medications used to treat depression and include Amitryptilline (Elavil), Imipramine (Tofranil), Nortryptilline (Aventyl,
Pamelor), Protryptilline (Vivactil) and Doxepin (Sinequan).
The most common TCAs used for the treatment of panic disorder are imipramine (Tofranil, Janimine), desipramine (Norpramin) and nortriptyline (
Pamelor).
A switch to nortrlptyline (
Pamelor) did not significantly improve symptoms.
Commonly used prescription anticholinergic drugs include medications such as Demerol, Elavil,
Pamelor, and Detrol.
Level 3 also involved switch and augmentation arms using nortriptyline (Aventyl,
Pamelor) or mirtazapine (Remeron) for switch agents and lithium or thyroxine for augmentation.
