The Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) is a platform for peace, security and economic development in the region.

The delegation of Tajikistan headed by the Ambassador on Special Assignments, the National Coordinator of Tajikistan for SCO Affairs Nazirmad Alizoda attended the meeting, reported the Tajik Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

Just recently in May 2019, SCO meetings of the Council of Foreign Ministers, of the Secretaries of national security, SCO Business Council, Women and Mass Media forums, marathon running competition on the famous Issyk Kul lake, successfully passed in Kyrgyzstan.

Today, SCO has almost half of the global population, 25 % of world's GDP and about 80% of Eurasian landmass.

Moreover, the leaders from SCO Observers countries including Afghanistan, Iran, Belarus and Mongolia also attended the event.

He was presenting his eight eight-pronged course of action for SCO on the turf of international politics at the 19th meeting of SCO Council of Heads of State in Bishkek, Kyrgyzstan on Friday.

In light of global economic slowdown and financial instability, it's necessary to use wisely the tremendous potential of the SCO, he said.

The Council of Heads of State is the highest forum of SCO which considers and defines strategy, prospects and priorities of the Organisation, a foreign ministry statement said.

The economic cooperation within the framework of the SCO will allow Kathmandu to solve a number of issues of its economic development, primarily in the transport, financial and energy sectors.

He made these remarks while addressing a keynote speaker at SCO Youth Assembly recently held in Dongfang Hainan, China.
