The PBC in its petition argues that it is not appropriate for the chief justice to be part of the SJC in view of the deliberations made between him and Justice Isa.

'Apart from it after admitting certain deliberations in the order dated 19-08-2019 of SJC, it may not be appropriate to remain a part of SJC by the Hon'ble Chief Justice of Pakistan,' reads the PBC petition.

Waheed Shahzad Butt, Advocate High Court, Lahore had filed the reference against Justice Isa for writing to the President on which SJC remarked that the content of the letter isn't grave or serious to remove him from the office.

'Presently only about half a dozen other informations/complaints are pending before Council and while being actively attended to they are passing through different stages of requisite process' said the SJC in a verdict issued on the complaint against apex court Judge Qazi Faez Esa.

It also calls for the SJC to be restrained from proceeding further in the references and for all current proceedings to be declared 'void, discriminatory and corum non judice'.

The bar association has also sought SC directives tothe SJC "to amend the SJC Procedure of Enquiry to provide greater transparency in the working of the SJC".

In its second hearing of the references, which lasted for 10 minutes, neither the attorney general of Pakistan nor the accused judges appeared before the SJC. A partial strike was witnessed at the Islamabad High Court Bar and the district bar association.

The meeting also passed a resolution in support of the SJC proceedings.

In Wednesday's decision, the SJC decided there was sufficient evidence to support the judge's finding of proof beyond a reasonable doubt that the defendant committed involuntary manslaughter as a youthful offender.
