KARACHI -- The recent spell of a heatwave, which had gripped Karachi for the past few days and was caused due to the development of Cyclone Vayu in the Arabian Sea, has ended.

Severe Cyclonic Storm Vayu in the East Arabian Sea downgraded into a Cyclonic Storm while lied centred around Lat.22.8AdegN and Long.66.8AdegE at 330 kilometers South of Karachi with maximum sustained surface winds 65-80 km/hour gusting to 90 km/hour around the system centre.

Muscat: Seawater levels across some parts of the Sultanate will rise as part of the effects of tropical storm Vayu. In its latest advisory, the Public Authority of Civil Aviation (PACA) has warned citizens of the rise.

Experts at the India Meteorological Department said that Cyclone Vayu, named after the Hindi word for wind, could possibly just scrape by the western state of Gujarat instead of hitting it head on in the afternoon before returning to sea.

Citizens of the coastal city will continue to sizzle and bake until Saturday as the usual sea breeze that provides some respite from intense heat has been cut off by Cyclone Vayu, with temperatures expected to hover between 40 to 42 degrees Celsius.

Karachi -- Tropical Cyclone 'Vayu' formed in the Arabian Sea has been changed into category one after intensifying further due to which heavy rain and storm is expected in Badin, Thatta, and Tharparkar.
