The senior dental officer position in a specific regional combatant command is known as Army Dental Surgeon and Chief, Dental Services in the Army Surgeon Cell (known as the UEy Dental Surgeon until the recent decision on naming conventions of Army Transformation units).

During the development of the design, the Army had used terms such as unit of employment (UEy or UEx) and unit of action (UA) to describe various units and their levels of responsibility.

There are actually two UE organizations--UEx and UEy. The UEx is "the principle war fighting headquarters of the Army, exercising operational control over brigades employed in tactical engagements," and the UEy, which focuses "primarily on the Army Component responsibilities, supporting the entire theater and the operational forces ...

While we do all these deployments and movements between installations, we are going to use this inertia to transform the Regiment in conjunction with the Army's efforts to modularize into brigade combat teams (BCTs), units of employment-tactical (UEx), and units of employment-operational (UEy).

TSC will work under the new unit of employment operational headquarters known as the UEy, with the TSC commander serving as the senior Army logistics commander in the UEy.

This will reduce the echelons above brigade to only two--units of employment-tactical (UEx) and units of employment-operational (UEy).
