magic isn't everything, exept when it is

@allaboutmagic

💫 Intro 💫

heyyyyy - welcome!

I'm Allie, she/they, in my mid-twenties and i really like writing (that sounds like a problem and i gotta be honest, sometimes it is, but most of the time its marvelous and fun and i couldnt imagine spending my free time doing anything else) This is my second blog (my main one is @allaboutlov3). Over there I mainly post fanfiction content (marauders era, various ships; if you're interested in that feel free to check it out) This blog right here focuses on my original works.

If there is anything you'd like to know please don't hesitate to ask! I love chatting with y'all about anything, everything or nothing at all.

Also, English is not my first language so please keep that in mind. If you want to be my beta reader - which would be kinda crazy, but also really fucking awesome, I'd absolutely truly and honestly love to have you- just send me a message!

Proud (and new) member of the creators' club (@creators-club) hosted by @bardic-tales

Under the cut you may find summaries of my stories (right now theres only one, but hey - that something right?) Also theres a random list of the tags im using and why (its similar to the one on my main blog in case youre wondering!)

excerpts from a book I’ll never write

Just wanted to clear this thing up

Friendly reminder that if I haven’t answered your ask the same day, it means either:

  • I want to treasure that ask forever
  • I dont feel up to social interaction
  • I didnt have time, and ended up forgetting about it

What it does NOT mean:

  • I dont like getting asks
  • You’re bothering me by sending asks

SAME APPLIES FOR UNANSWERED TAG GAMES!

Happy STS. Do you consciously plan the themes in your stories, or do they emerge naturally?

Happy STS! 🌟

hmmm okay so, im a pretty chaotic person (y'all probably noticed that already) but i also like planning ahead in some aspects. for the lilac crown i knew that i wanted Liz to have no magical abilities whatsoever. i wanted a mc who'd have to come to terms with that. Learning that their value is nothing other ppl should ever get to determine and finding strength in their many abilities. and this decision fueled the whole Tahokens against Voimatos lore

so id say i do both. planning a few things, then seeing how it plays out. if it doesn't ill go back to planning, if it does ill continue until i feel somethings not working anymore.

that was a really interesting question! i feel like sometimes id like to plan a little more and not have to fix my mistakes later on but this kinda works better for me overall. idk but my ideas somehow float more - if that makes sense?

How about you? If you plan your stories, how detailed is it? This question is for everyone who'd like to answer and participate! Feel free to tag me if you do <3

(This ask was brought to you by the @creators-club!)

@seastarblue i'll use your lovely idea going forward and tag the creators club like you did, if that's alright with you?

The most frustrating experience as a writer is having a clear vision in your mind of the story you want to tell but being too afraid to put pen to paper for fear of failing to do the story justice. I’m so scared that my actual execution will fail to meet my expectations that I’m paralysed to even start.

you know what’s harder than writing snappy dialogue? writing dialogue that doesn’t make your characters sound like they’re rehearsing for a soap opera

✨Good day and Happy WBW!✨

So, for any WIP or story of yours, what’s the government like? What kind of government is it? A theocracy? Or a monarchy? A democratic republic? Are they corrupt? Or no? Tell me about it!

have a lovely day!✨

(And I do hope this is the right blog? Lemme know if not!)

Hiiii! Thanks for this question <3

okay so, basically Hatolea is ruled by a royal family (the Darringtons) and is therefore a monarchy. But thats not the whole story. I recently started explaining about Tehokans (ppl with magic powers) and Voimatos (ppl w/o). Because the Darringtons are mostly Tahokens the Voimatos do not feel represented enough (and they really aren't)

One city, Belena, is in an open rebellion against the crown and has been for years. It is located on an island and only Voimatos are allowed to live there. (Maybe I'll explain later how they managed to ban the Tehokans, cause ofc there is also a story to that!) Anyways, they're still not really seen as a threat (because what could Voimatos really do against our precious and powerful magical abilities) (spoilers: a lot actually) (but many Tehokans are ignorant and also a teeny tiny bit arrogant). Belena is run by "The Council of Thirteen", which consists of elected representatives. However the elections are not really free and fair, which is a part of my story that I'll still need to work a little more on.

What unites both governments is the fact that they both believe they are doing things for the good of the majority. Malik Darrington, the reigning king, wants to protect his people and keep the peace. The Council of Thirteen should be interested in equality and I'm sure there are people who aspire exactly that. Others, however, want to finally have power over the Tehokans to make them pay for the past centuries. It seems clear that war is unavoidable. Well that is until "The Red Alliance", a radical group of Voimatos, finds out about the existence of Liz. Liz, who should be a Tahoken but somehow isn't. What they don't know yet is that Liz is also the one, who should be on the throne, but isn't.

So yeah, there's a lot going on. I hope you could understand everything <3

Happy WBW! What are the major holidays or festivals in your world, and what do they celebrate?

Okay, now thats a really good question. Gotta admit though, I don't have an answer to that. So far I've been focusing so much on my characters and building the story, but I feel like those things are important, too. So yeah idk thank you for this question! And maybe one day I'll have a real answer to give <3
