As a curator, all these people saying museum are expensive...the one I work at is $3 to enter. But there are also plenty of free museums in my area. If you are saying museums are expensive you need to open your eyes to the world of museums beyond big institutional ones. There are so many small, historical houses, historical parks, little art galleries, out there that are free or have small fees. There are also museums that have free or discounted days. There are museums that offer student discounts, senior discounts, military discounts, museums that offer free or discounts if you have SNAP benefits.

Almost all museum memberships have reciprocal benefits. It's a little more up front, but if you become a member at one museum (It's usually like $50 for a year) you get a membership card and there's usually a list of other museums that card will get you into for free.

Also you can always sign up to be a volunteer. Then you can look at the stuff all the time for free. I got my start 10 years ago as a volunteer, fell in love and made it my career.

Just wanna put this out here but please never keep yourself from leaving long ass rambling comments on why you love a fic, a certain scene etc. I think I speak for all fic writers when i say there's nothing better than looking into my inbox and seeing comments like these, especially on multiple chapters <33 Never feel ashamed to let writers know how much you enjoy their work!!

In case anyone finds it helpful because mobility aids are horrifically expensive and inaccessible…

And for those people who have access to mobility devices but might benefit from a second chair they can abuse without risking expensive damage…

Erik Kondo has made a website, Open Source Innovations, that details plans for DIY wheelchairs. These wheelchairs can be made from common materials like wood, plastic, and pvc. They are lightweight and can be custom fit to the user allowing from the same degree of movement you would get from a custom chair. And they are durable and easily repairable. (he has been stress testing his latest design by dropping it down stairs, dropping it out of a car, launching it across a driveway, and throwing it off a deck). Its 12lbs and I think he said its was in the $200 ish range for parts.

He also is working on cheap, open source, accessible designs for beach chairs, off road chairs, motorized attachments (think smart drive), and so on. Plus he skateboards in his wheelchair. Cool dude, helpful info, pass it on.

It's incredibly sad people have to resort to this, but it's a damn good resource. Use it. Spread awareness. Maybe one day people with physical disabilities won't need DIYs like this. But until then, reblog and share.

i love old science fiction because it’s all like “IT’S THE DISTANT YEAR TWO THOUSAND AND THREE AND MAN IS EXPLORING THE DEEP CORNERS OF THE UNIVERSE” like god bless you old sci-fi you had such high hopes for us

robby reams a handful of parents through the duration of the shift for allowing their children to play with fireworks and blow off several fingers. dana keeps a patient who keeps screaming and sobbing that he’s melting because he got badly sunburnt in check. santos is piiiissed when robby sends her to take care of a toddler losing circulation because she’s stuck in a pool floatie. collins tends to the rash of a teenager who was dared to go down a dry waterslide. abbott tenderly guides mohan through a complicated procedure after a major mishap with a sparkler. mel and langdon coach each other on how to to reason with a crazy rude mother who keeps insisting there is a medical emergency with her son who threw up in the pool because he ate too many hot dogs. whitaker panics when a drowning victim he resuscitates throws up lake water all over him. garcia slaps santos around a little bit during an emergency surgery on a patient who let his kid drive the four wheeler and ran him over. mckay has to deal with the headache that is chad coming back with a broken rib, clavicle, and wrist because he can’t waterski for shit. javadi and mateo handle several bonfire-related burns and javadi gets into it with somebody admitted for severe alcohol poisoning resisting their treatment. the hospital receives a bomb threat

did you know you can create a whole fictional world and nobody can stop you and its not illegal
