March's sketchbook doodles!
Up top, you can see I made another attempt at 627 in my own art style. It shouldn't be that hard, but because I'm so used to drawing Experiments in the mock-canon style, my hand just defaults to drawing them that way, and I have to physically redirect myself back into my personal art style.
So I gave up and made a bunch of chibis of him instead!
On the bottom is my attempt at making Elliot from "Pete's Dragon" a bit more fearsome. I was thinking about how the old man in the movie is so freaked out by his appearance and sings a whole song about how terrifying he is, even though Elliot really isn't the least bit spooky. So I thought, why not make him live up to his impression? I tried. I think it turned out okay. Maybe I'll take another crack at it later.
The doodles of February!
...it's not much.
I drew my beloved 627 in my style, but I'm not really satisfied with how it came out. Nose too small, eyebrows too big... I think the reason I rarely draw traditionally anymore is that it's harder to fix proportions. I can't just resize things. It's annoying.
Then there's a shitpost pony (I don't know what I was thinking at the time), and some liquid effects practice. I think I have dripping and splashing down pat, but the puddle was oddly challenging because I wasn't sure how ripple-y to make it.
How I look at my friends when they hate on a group of people who arenโt hurting anyone because โtheyโre generally annoyingโ as if weโre not gay trans genderfucked neo pronoun using disabled furrys..
Dude we cannot bring back bullying to an โextentโ we are the extent
"we are the extent"
January is over, here's the last of that month's doodles!
First thing is just my persona in wintery outfits, nothing special there.
But then we have a little art style exercise featuring Stitch! On the left we have my recreation of the typical L&S art style, and on the right is him in my actual art style.
Honestly, drawing in the L&S style (specifically when it comes to drawing Experiments) comes naturally to me because that style actually played a huge role in helping me get a grasp on anatomy. When I first got into Lilo & Stitch, I tried drawing the iconic blue space gremlin, and realized I was terrible at it. I wanted to be able to draw him properly. The ensuing artistic journey resulted in me not only being able to draw Stitch very well, but being able to draw creatures better in general.
Having said that, of course you can see some differences between that style and my "real" art style. I draw all the scruffy fluffy bits on creatures with fur, I draw less "eye-shaped" eyes, and I draw pointier claws. But you can still see where I retained habits from drawing Stitch and his kin, especially with how I draw ears and mouths.
IN OTHER NEWS, I've decided to change my formula for these doodle dump posts. I won't be posting them weekly anymore. Those posts are frankly boring when I haven't been doing a lot of doodling. So, going forward, I'm just going to do big collection posts of everything from the whole month. I also won't be uploading said collections to my ArtStation portfolio like I said I would. I just don't consider these doodles relevant or interesting enough to warrant that.
Faeries are the Neopian equivalent of angels.
They come from the heavens.
They possess incredible powers and are able to easily manipulate the natural world. The actual limits of their power are unknown.
Their forms are strange and ethereal from the perspective of mortals.
A vast majority of them are considered good. Some are neutral. Only a rare few are truly malevolent, and these individuals are power-hungry manipulators known for attempting to seize control over mortal affairs.
They frequently appear before mortals to present tasks and quests.
They give blessings to favored mortals.
They are generally considered wise.
They seem to be sexless, yet present themselves as a specific gender.
They're objectively super cool.
(Let me know if you can think of any other parallels!)
