Let's start with the fact that Lady Shiva offered to train Tim. That alone shows he is beyond capable — she does not care about those who wouldn't be fit for it.
Tim has mastered several martial arts types, just for one. Judo, aikido, eskrima, ninjutsu and so on. Not to mention his skill with weapons + his own signature weapon, his bo staff. On top of that, his skills with acrobatics and gymnastics. If he wasn't able to fight, Bruce wouldn't have put him out there.
People tend to forget that Tim, despite everything, doesn't.. fully believe in the no kill rule, too. He has broken bones, ripped joints, broken ribs, choked people — oo, my favorite, he also used his bo staff to shatter a kneecap. Bruce, on more than one occasion, has called him out for his brutality.
Plus, he did it without blinking. Literally just did it and walked away, shrugging because "i did what had to be done."
He threatened lethal weapons more than once.
This is also the Tim who, in the Titans Tomorrow timeline became batman and said fuck the no kill rule and became one of the most sadistic Batman variants. He executed people, anon, straight up — carried a gun and all lmao. Outright acknowledges that the rule was shit and he was better than Bruce because he was willing to do what needed to be done, regardless. However, this sadly is not mainline 💔 but he's gotten so close.. so, so close to that snapping point. ( healsofoughtsupermaninthattimeline )
I'd also like to point out he normally doesn't jump head first into a fight. He analyzes, studies — he's watching movement, twitches, muscles, the way his opponent breathes. Because he's looking for the upper hand — the weakness, the point that he knows will dismantle and lead him to victory.
All of his movements are calculated. He has a plan before he needs a plan. However, I'd also like to remind everyone; Tim is also capable of taking opponents down with words! He is very sharp tongued, cruel, and manipulative. He is willing to be hurtful — brutally so. It will not bother him at all to disarm someone mentally.
He knows pressure points, too, which also helps. So.. between combat training, agility, gadgets, psychological tricks, etc etc etc.. I'd say he's pretty fucking capable with more than just tech.
😞 Tim is smart. He fights smart. With precision. He does not waste movement, doesn't waste effort. He gets it done as quickly as he can. He has, canonically, held his own against Dick, Damian, Cass, and Jason, as well.
I'd also like to point out the approval given to him by Ra's.. considering he views him worthy as a successor.
