Makes sense. He lived his life deprived of basic psychological and emotional gratification. Now that he's allowed to choose, he has to do rigorous physical activities or put himself in thrilling borderline dangerous situations to make up for time lost feeling numb
It's the same reason why kids who grew up in modest religious households may have a hoe phase later on. Or the uncool nerd in high school became an absolute blacked out party animal in college. Extremity happens when you deprive a human of their natural humanity

Good to know the decades of fanfictions that portrayed Adrien as aggressively conflict avoidant and emotionally repressive were 100% spot on. Nice to know his first instinct when handling his feelings alone is indeed to run away. So happy he's a mentally stable and healthy boy 100% don't question it.
