I USE HE/HIM PRONOUNS
My pen name is Calico Jack Hyde, and you can call or refer to me by any one or combo of those three names that you like. I'm in my 30s and I am from and live in the US. This is my writing, reading, and art sideblog. I like/follow from my main @cobra-creampuff (previously izzyspussy).
Now on bluesky and dreamwidth as calicohyde too!
DO NOT FOLLOW: under fifteen years old, from a h4rry p0tter url
Might Not WANT To Follow: "anti-ship"/support censorship or thought/morality policing; support generative AI for creative or academic purposes; don't want to see sex, romance, kink, polyamory, etc; don't want to see fictional violence, injury, blood/minor gore; don't want to see casual swearing/profanity, reclaimed slurs; have any gender politics besides "everyone has a right to complete bodily autonomy and deserves basic kindness regardless of any inherent or affected physical traits (yes, even Them)"
I will NEVER post real-world violence and I won't post current events here either.
I write adult horror novels, adult romance novels, and erotica short stories and novellas.
Priority Project: Curse The Messenger
CTM is an adult horror urban fantasy with a sapphic romantic subplot. It's the first novel in The Stranger quartet, also known as and tagged "witch noir".
Eddie is a Seer, or someone born to involuntarily prophecize in her dreams. She and her sibling Fred run a private investigation business finding lost things for the witch society that has shunned them both for being clairvoyant. Then secular, or non-witch, Jessica begs them to help her solve the murder of Maddie Ward, her girlfriend, which the police have determined never happened - despite the horrifically gory crime scene that Jessica claims she saw with her own eyes.
Other Projects
Any Publicity Is Good Publicity: romantic comedy, novel Gwaine Hinata is a disillusioned leftist politician who has met in the middle too many times and lost touch with his own ideals (and will to live, lowkey). Asher Adam is the frontman of punk rock duo ION who writes a song about what an incredible disappointment Gwaine is as a representative - with the clear implication he ain't shit as a man either. Gwaine hears about the song and can't help but be intrigued, so he goes to a show. When Ash sees him, he gets off stage to perform the song standing on Gwaine's table instead. This only serves to further enthrall Gwaine. Against the strongly worded pleas of his colleagues and friends, he hires Asher to be his private political advisor. Even more ill-advisedly, he then proceeds to fall in love with him. playlist | taglist
Not Just Us [WORKING TITLE]: romantic comedy, novel Ken Mechado is a corporately owned superhero. The company owns his home, his name, and his image. They've even trademarked his superpower, an ability he was born with. They can fire him any time, but it's illegal for Ken to quit. Milo Bronte is a regular guy, aside from the normal human biodiversity that gives him a devilish appearance - rather, that gives him the human appearance that the devil's was based on, if you ask him. The fact that Milo uses his strength, claws, and prehensile tail to do things some might call sinful - including a little light terrorism - is just a funny coincidence. He's been Ken's homoerotic nemesis for years. Every overworked, underpaid day has Ken wound tighter and leaning harder on 'homoerotic'. Something's gotta give soon, or Ken is gonna snap and decide Fuck nemesis.
Paid Training: erotica, novella Cal, sheltered young man just out of college interviews to be talent for a media company without understanding what kind of media it is they make. It's porn. Exhibitionistic porn, specifically. He's reluctant, but is firmly encouraged by the very charming PA, Beck who has taken an interest in... his career. Swept up in attention, praise, and sex like he's never had before, Cal agrees to more and more elaborate scenes, until he suddenly finds himself performing on camera at Beck's direction for free.
One Feeling Only: erotic horror, novella A lonely man accidentally crosses into fairy territory while foraging. He can't find the border he passed, so he ventures forward hoping to meet one of the fairies who lives here and make a deal with them for guidance back home. Luck has him encounter the painfully gorgeous, and equally lonely, sovereign of the land - but exactly what kind of luck it is remains to be seen.
The Jersey Devils [WORKING TITLE]: horror, novel A varsity high school girls' volleyball team makes a crossroads deal to win the regional championship. Ten years later, the Devil comes a-calling to collect on the debts they owe him. He really couldn't care less if they were just kids who didn't understand what they were doing or whether or not the trade is fair. They signed their souls away of their own free will. A deal is a deal.
