grace | 26 | she/her | video games and oc content. illario dellamorte apologist. writing commission slots open: 0/2

Hi everyone! I've gone back and forth on this for years now, but now I've finally decided to open some writing commissions! Here's a proper commission info sheet for anyone interested!

I WILL WRITE

  • ocs (including my own, if you have requests!)
  • oc x oc pairings
  • oc x canon pairings
  • canon x canon pairings
  • canon divergence and aus
  • ships with age gaps and/or power imbalances, such as professor/student, noble/servant, etc.
  • sentient nonhuman entities (spirits, demons, monsters, druid wild shapes, etc.)
  • smut, including kinks, bdsm, cnc, free use, etc.
  • Dubcon is negotiable, but I reserve the right to turn down any kinks or smut concepts if I feel uncomfortable writing them.

I WILL NOT WRITE

  • smut involving characters under the age of 18 or appearing to be under the age of 18
  • noncon

If you don't see something on either of these lists, please DM me with your ideas and I can confirm whether or not I will write them! I do not judge and I will not bash anyone for a kink or a ship dynamic they ask me about, even if I don't end up accepting the commission. I am also happy to talk out ideas in DMs.

β€œBe curious about what you’re writing about” is not stock Common Writing Advice but it really, really should be. There are a lot of written works that fail due to the authors just being obviously incurious about what they are writing about.

Yeah we've all seen the opposite though. I do NOT need 10 pages of information on the Paris sewage system mid-story

Maybe YOU don't. Coward

Victor Hugo isn't going to fuck you!!

he would if he was alive. man was famously A Slut

so illario was in the final battle - part 2

@kerrtrash has been kind enough to take the renaissance patron approach to my work and was the driving force behind a sequel to this piece! behold, nearly 8.5k words about Illario and his long-suffering ex(?) girlfriend who is too compassionate for her own good navigating what they used to be as both individuals and a couple, and trying to figure out what they are now. as with the previous oneshot, tw for some brief mentions of past child abuse and some descriptions of treated but fresh burn wounds.

They held hands on the way home, and it almost felt like it did before.

Treviso was ever so slightly different, of course; Ivenci was no longer glowering across the market, for example, and the Crows who usually prowled the streets had all gone to Minrathous to assist in the battle against Elgar’nan. But the market still bustled as the merchants shouted over one another. Repairs to the art gallery were underway, with scaffolding stacked to the rooftop as sculptors perfected their patches to the marble work damaged by Antaam cannons. But golden lamplight still emanated from the open gallery doors as the proprietress unveiled a new display. The old chantry was still closed as the cleaners attempted to scrub the blood out of the cracked stone floors and steps. But the sisters still sang the Chant outside and collected alms for the poor and displaced.

Illario was burnt, Lidia was bloodied, and they were both battered and bruised after fighting Venatori for hours. But their uninjured fingers still intertwined as they walked through the market square.

we as women need to stop saying "I'm just a girl" and "women in stem" about dangerous instances of ignorance like not knowing you shouldn't drive a screw into the wall directly above an electrical outlet or pouring hot water into a cold glass. it definitely should not be said about crashing your fucking car in a ✨new and unique way.✨ the phrase "women in stem" started as a way to show that women are just as capable of being engineers, technicians, and scientists as men, and to showcase the success of women in fields where the competence and intelligence of women is constantly called into question. the song "Just a Girl" by No Doubt is about being perpetually constricted in society by the stereotypes of women being dumb, fragile, and useless. currently it's being used on posts where women proudly display moments where they didn't think something through properly or a man ended up doing something for them because they were too lazy to figure it out themselves or they did something dangerous and are now absolving themselves of any wrongdoing by acting like they didn't know better. you are not "just a girl," you are an adult woman and not only do you need to take personal responsibility for your actions, but you need to accept the fact that you represent all other women in the eyes of men whether you like it or not. no woman chooses to be the designated poster girl for her gender and yes, men absolutely need to stop judging all women based on experiences they had with just a couple of them, but the reality is that if a woman acts stupid or reckless or she fails at something and then just giggles and says "how could I have known better? I'm literally just a girl! #womeninstem am I right?" she is actively perpetuating the stereotypes that have held all women back for centuries. god forbid women do this kind of thing in front of their children. their sons will grow up with this stereotype ingrained in them and their daughters will grow up with a special kind of learned helplessness and internalized misogyny that they'll have to actively work through in their adulthood.

stop saying you're "just a girl" if you're just an idiot instead. at least that's gender-neutral.

someone I follow on the bird app just announced they're starting a very exclusive private fic server because they and a bunch of other people want to talk about how much they love the fics they're reading, and as an author can I just say that a really great place to talk about a fic you love is in the comments for that fic

I understand that people are trying to create safe spaces, but as the number of comments that I get on my fics dwindles with each passing year, knowing these spaces exist where my fics are being discussed, places that I am excluded from, makes me want to write fic LESS

I mean I guess who cares, right, because if I stop writing, there's 10,000 other people that will continue...but if you participate in a fic "book club" server and you say nice things there about a fic you loved, maybe copy and paste that into a comment on AO3?

the only thing fanfic writers are asking for in return for hours of hard work is attention. please don't rob us of the one thing that we hope for when we hit "post"

this is directly related to this post I made about how fanfic authors now are treated like content mills, and not like valued members of a creative community who thrive on interaction. for the past decade, we've watched the fandom ecosystem disrupted over and over, as NSFW fan artists seek safety by putting their work behind paywalls, and self-conscious fic readers squirrel away their feelings in invite-only communities

an easy way to do your part to fight against the evils perpetrated by social media is to leave a comment on a fanfic you love

but don't take my word for it -- here are some responses that my fellow authors have left on this post:

The fact I had a fic that was fairly beloved and NO ONE commented on it because it was all being done in a fucking book club server made me want to scream.

I haven't updated that fic in two years now.

I cannot express enough how imperative it is to show the writer how much you love their work. The comments don't have to be novels themselves - even just an "I loved this so much!" Or keyboard smashing works wonders to keep the writer going. Please, we need to bring back supporting writers and artists now more than ever!!!

Perhaps it's just because I'm a short woman who happens to enjoy both frilly dresses and sex, but I get so mad when people say Ariana grande or Sabrina carpenter are encouraging pedos by uh .... being short, enjoying cute things, and enjoying sex. I'm sorry some adult women are very cute and hot and like sex. And it literally has nothing to do with children. The people accusing them of being creeps are the ones inserting children into the discussion at all. (hyumjim voice) And I'm NOT supposed to be creeped out by that???

This post got me blocked by a mutual but I don't care I'm an advocate of women expressing their sexuality EVEN IF they have committed the crime of being short.

Skeletor has forever destroyed our ability to come up with voices for skeleton characters.

this is like saying NASA has forever destroyed our ability to wonder what it's like on the moon. like we can still use our powers of imagination if we want to but the question's pretty much fucking settled.
