The Cherry On Top (Bangchan)
The sun had finally set and the cool, crisp air was blowing through your hair. You had just left a meeting with your employees and were carrying two bags and a cup of coffee. It was truly a beautiful evening.
You worked for a very well-known cosmetic company which constantly produced brand new trendy products for the public. Your cosmetics were used by idols and average people alike and nobody ever complained about them. You only ever heard good reviews, which was probably a good thing since you were the founder and boss of this company.
Tonight you wore a black dress with long sleeves which went all the way down to your calves. The shiny black heels on your feet made a satisfying click against the pavement of the sidewalk you were walking home on.
You decided to take a shortcut home through the park since you were so eager to go home and began taking the path right down the middle. It was now practically dark out, and the moon had just been covered by the clouds. The small street lights helped your view, but not by much.
Your heels dug into your ankles and you tried to keep walking, but it was no use. You sat down on a small wooden bench in the middle of the park and examined your ankle. You groaned when you saw the blister.
Suddenly, the sky suddenly burst open and fat raindrops began to fall down, soaking everything. Great, you thought. This is just great.
You gathered your things and disgarded your coffee cup in the nearby trash can. You tried your best to hobble out of the park and make your way home, but your ankle hurt way too much to ignore.
The sound of an umbrella opening filled your ears and you looked up. Sure enough, there was an incredibly good looking man holding an umbrella over your head.
"Thank you so much." You gushed.
"Of course." The handsome stranger replied with a grin.
He walked you out of the park and back into the city. You tried your best not to fall over, but you ended up stumbling a few times. Of course, he noticed.
"Are you... okay?" He asked hesitantly. "You're walking kinda funny."
"I-I hurt my ankle while walking with these heels on." You replied.
"Sit." He motioned to the bench behind us and you sat down.
He opened up his own bag and dug around for a moment or two, leaving you with the umbrella. It wasn't long before he pulled out a small bandage from one of the inside pockets and unwrapped it before sticking it to the back of your heel.
"You're so kind, uhh-" You blanked, not knowing what to call him.
"Chris." You repeated, watching his hand freeze from where he was nursing your ankle. "I'm Y/N."
Of course, the rain wasn't the final terrible thing to happen that evening, and fate decided that some lightning would make the night even better.
"Quick!" Chris shouted over the clap of thunder. "Over here!" He pulled you up from the bench and quickly ran to the other side of the street, where a small bus stop was, all while holding your hand.
You both realized what he had done at the same time and he abruptly let go of your hand. "Sorry." He mumbled, averting his gaze.
Your hair stuck to your face and you tried to tuck it behind your ear. "Chris, what do you do for a living?" You asked, hoping to start a conversation.
"I-I uhh, well... I make music." He stammered and you raised an eyebrow, unsure why he seemed so hesitant. "What do you do?" He asked.
You smiled, eager to explain your job, just like every other time someone asked. "I'm the boss of a cosmetic company." You put your proud face on, enjoying bragging about your achievements.
"What kind of cosmetics do you make?" Chris asked curiously.
"We just released our new line of fruit lip tints!" You exclaimed. "Let me show you the product pictures." You pulled out your phone and opened up your email.
You clicked on the newest product pictures for the lip tints and began swiping through for Chris to see. "This one's my favorite." You said as you passed by the cherry flavoured one. "I have it in my bag." You pulled it out as proof. "I'm wearing it right now, actually."
"Wow, Y/N, this is crazy." Chris chuckled. "You really have to send some of these down to our stylists!" He exclaimed. "These lip tints sound perfect."
"Stylists?" You questioned.
"Ah, of course..." Chris took a deep breath and all of the words came rishing out with his exhale. "My job is an idol and I'm part of a K-Pop group called Stray Kids and I really hope you won't tell anyone you saw me!" He rambled nervously and you thought it was slightly adorable.
You laughed. "Chris, I won't tell anyone." You assured him. "I'll keep your secret."
"Thank you." He said, his voice barely above a whisper. "That means a lot, Y/N." His voice was filled with emotion now.
You tried to tuck your hair behind your ears again, with no success, your hair still being plastered to your face from the rain.
"Here," Chris motioned for you to turn around and you did. He began taking strands of your hair and winding them together.
"Are you... braiding?" You asked, voice filled with shock as you turned to face him.
"Yeah." Chris replied, biting his lip in concentration. "Now turn back around if you want this to turn out, Y/N!" He teased, making you giggle.
The two of you were acting like old friend, laughing and chatting together. It made no sense to you how you instantly took an incredible liking to this person. In fact, it might have been more than just a liking. His looks and kindness combined were the perfect combination and you loved the way he made you feel. Chris took away all of the stress that had come with working long hours to perfect your company.
Once Chris finished braiding your hair, he still wouldn't let go of the braid. "I can't explain it." He said quietly.
"Explain... what?" You asked, confused, "Did you mess up my hair?"
"No-no, it's not that." Chris shook his head. "I just feel... somehow drawn to you." He said, making his ears turn a bright shade of pink.
Your breath caught in your throat.
"I've never felt drawn to anyone before." He said.
And before you could react, he pulled your braid towards him and met your lips with his.
The kiss was soft, hesitant. Chris didn't move and neither did you. The rain still poured around the bus stop, but everything else quickly slipped your mind. There was only him.
Chris pulled back slowly. "I think cherry's my new favorite flavour." He smirked, before blushing furiously and hiding his face in his hands. "Oh, God, I shouldn't have said that."
He peeked through his fingers at you and you slowly pulled his hands away from his face. His breath hitched as he realized what you were about to do and his eyes widened.
You held his hands as you kissed him harder than before. Thank you, Chris, you thought. Thank you for being so kind to me. Lighning flashed overhead and a clap of thunder rang through your ears not long after.
You pulled back from the kiss and said it out loud. "Thank you, Chris."
"For everything." You replied.
You and Chris exchanged phone numbers and smiles as the rain started to die down.
The bus driver honked impatiently at you as you tried to quickly gather up your bags and Chris helped. "I hope to see you backstage with your lip tints someday, Y/N." He said. "I can't wait to see you again."
"Goodbye, Chris." You said as you hugged.
You handed him back his umbrella and gave him one last lingering kiss on his cheek before stepping into the bus.
You found a seat by the window and waved at the curly, wet haired person who made your night so much better.
Maybe the rain wasn't such a bad thing to happen. Maybe it was just fate pushing you and this handsome stranger together. Maybe it was just the cherry on top of an amazing night.
