Happy birthday! I hope it isn't rude to ask, but do you have plans for restocking your artbook (or creating a new one?)
thank you! not rude at all, no plans to restock the old art book since it's a few years old now but definitely fingers crossed hoping i can get the ball rolling on a new art book in the future! (near future if i'm lucky!)
Choo I take regular long scrolls through your art here when high, down or idle, and I saw some tags on recent work; I'm so sorry to hear these years have been so bad for you!!!!! I hope dearly that things get better soon, and you can flourish as you ought to. Best wishes from some girl on the internet!!!
aw thank you very much! i appreciate your well wishes, it makes me happy to hear that people do still check out my art on occasion even though i'm not around or posting anything new. road ahead admittedly looks a little bleak but i'm still pushing forward and doing my best 😭🖤
things i'll never finish
drawings i've abandoned over the past 2 years or so, whether i got stuck at a certain point or ended up not liking the composition anymore when i hit the 80% complete mark, little ideas from them will probably end up cannibalised and appearing in future art. i have posted these in full to patreon before over the years as wips but i just know i'll never go back to them because i'm not happy with how they were progressing. rip to these pieces.
hi ! despite adoring your work and following you on here since a long time i wasn't aware that you had drawn a comic recently (maybe it isn't that recent to you tho!) but imagine my surprise when i saw the french version of The Well in the only bookshop of Saint-Florent-le-Vieil, middle-of-nowhere-france !!! i immediately bought it and read it the next day in the sun. first it was such a joy to see your drawings illustrate a story of this length, i was amazed at the atmosphere you gave to the story. i love the design you gave the characters, despite the curse on the land i was like i want to see this place so bad ! and as usual the clothes are magnificent ! and the colors !!! it's something that i really love about your work and here i could feel the care taken in choosing the color palettes to accentuate and glorify the story, incredible work !! so i just wanted to send you this message to thank you because it was truly a special moment to read and watch this book, kudos to the author too of course ! also i made my local library buy it, that's not much but at least people can discover it there now ! i hope you're having a good week <3
wow, thank you so much, this is a really sweet message to see! i'm really happy that you enjoyed the book and thank you so much for asking your local library to get a copy. Jake and i put a lot of work into it, and the french version only came out not too long ago so that at the very least is a relatively recent thing.
admittedly i think the reason you and many other people didn't know i'd even drawn a whole comic at all is probably because i'm really bad at marketing...well. everything. i don't know why, i just get kind of embarrassed and feel pushy if i post too much overtly advertise-y stuff, but that's a me problem haha. i also somewhat held back on it because the book is aimed at a younger audience than the stuff i do in my personal art, so i felt a bit reluctant to share it too much because it's just very different from what i make and post for fun anyway.
regardless of my own weird hangups though, it does make me happy when people let me know that they liked the comic, i appreciate it a great deal, thank you!
ok to prove my own point about being bad at advertising: i completely failed to promote the book at all in this reply LMAO here's the link to the book with a little summary and suggested age range and all that for anyone who was interested but i would always rec you support your local book/comic shop and buy from them if you can, or pick it up from a library. anyway. book.
