i understand your concern, however: songs, at the end of the day, are useable and shareable works of media. if i were belittling or smearing the lesbian experience in referencing chappell’s song, then yes, it would be a problem. however, in this case i am doing neither of those things! frankly the only reason it’s even tied to her song in the first place is the fact that i put it in the playlist. otherwise there is absolutely nothing besides the title “good luck, babe” (which is a generic phrase) that has anything to do with the song.

& referencing and drawing inspiration from music and other medias is pretty fundamental in art as a whole. sharing and reimagining media in different ways is not always harmful! an example of what would be harmful is if my story was one that was focused on intentionally misrepresenting or trivializing lesbian experiences/reinforcing negative stereotypes, neither of which i’m doing. remember that if media could not be shared, referenced, and enjoyed in a myriad of ways beyond the original intent the world would be a very dark place :’)
