Returning to Writblr!

Hi! Some of you may have once known me as maximised, but due to burnout and life experiences that blog became inactive, so I am launching a new writblr account, coarsely! This is a re/introduction for anyone who may have forgotten me or is new here!

I'm Brieuc, pronounced Br-ee-oo-k.
I am queer and use thon/thons, they/them, he/him, she/her and ae/aer pronouns.
I am an adult.
I am autistic.
I typically write in the fantasy and sci-fi genres, and I enjoy large casts of characters to play with different thought processes, experiences, and in-character problem solving.
My main Tumblr account is @brw, and is both personal and fandom based, mostly comic books, star trek and film. I also am an amateur graphic designer, photographer and filmmaker.
My current wip is titled "Anti-Chronicles", the title may change down the line. I am currently within the planning/first draft stage, and am constantly re-working and adding more to my lore document. The current snippet I am working on follows the adventures of Vítor and Saccade, two strangers brought together by the mysterious disappearance of a young girl.
I am also occasionally working on "Hadal Zone", a murder mystery romance aboard a merchant ship after it picks up the survivors from a cruising ship.
I have other projects I may mention from time to time, but Anti-Chronicles is my main project at the moment, and if I'm not talking about that I am probably talking about Hadal Zone. However, I'm always happy to talk about my other projects if you are curious about those too!

if you make an OC that you are genuinely insane over, like you are obsessed with this freak and can't stop thinking about them, then it will rub off on other people. the virus spreads

but (and this is the most important part) you HAVE to be insane about them. you can't just make an OC and be normal about them, they have to consume your thoughts

Intro to WIP - Book 1/4

Status: First Draft; started January 1, 2023

Progress/Target: 56.5k/80-90k

Themes and Tropes: portal to another world, prophecies, chosen one, found family, rivals/enemies to lovers, sibling rivalry

Age Rating: 17+

Warnings: violence, death, mental illness

Plot: Seth and Zayna are the co-captains of their university's debate team and they can't stand each other. After yet another heated argument, they are sent off to the school's library in an attempt to force them to work together, but of course, something strange happens while they're there and the two are transported to a different world. There, the two meet many different citizens--some of whom are a great help to them and some that are anything but. Seth and Zayna just want to get home, but the deeper they get into this world, the more they find out it won't be as easy as they thought. Can they put aside their disdain for each other to reach a common goal, or will they let petty arguing ruin them and their chances of getting back?

Extra details: Black female lead. Cherokee male lead. Plenty of LGBTQ rep and many Black and POC characters.

about me

Hi! I'm starting this blog so I can track and share my writing progress. I'm looking to meet other writers and become more a part of the writing community.

I'm 24 and a teacher so summer is the best time for me to really write all day.

Outside of reading novels, I love watching movies and reading comics.

My favorite book of all time is A Thousand Splendid Suns by Khaled Hosseini and as of 6/17/23, I am currently reading A Game of Thrones by George RR Martin.

about my writing

I have always enjoyed writing, even as a child. Now, I just feel like I want to do more. Growing up, I didn't have a lot of stories about people like me so my goal is to create engaging and memorable stories with well-written black and poc, LGBTQ/queer, and female characters.

Some of my favorite tropes are rivals/enemies to lovers, antihero protagonists, quests and prophecies, and the Amazon Brigade.

~~Right now, I am working on a~~ ~~fantasy novel. I've written one before, but things just didn't work out the way I wanted, so this is my fresh start. I'm about 54k words into this novel and my goal is 80-90k.~~

Update Jan 22, 2025: I am on my second draft of WotG (TLBH). 78k/110k of the way through. Most of my posts will be about this second draft.

Like I said, I'm open to talking with and meeting new people. I'm down to beta your WIPs and share ideas and tips. Thanks for reading!
