@hogwartshousesnet july event: favorite class — astronomy
Astronomy is a core class and subject taught at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. Astronomy is a branch of magic that studies stars and the movement of planets. It is a subject where the use of practical magic during lessons was not necessary.
IT’S NOT ‘PEEKED’ MY INTEREST
OR ‘PEAKED’
BUT PIQUED
‘PIQUED MY INTEREST’
THIS HAS BEEN A CAPSLOCK PSA
THIS IS ACTUALLY REALLY USEFUL THANK YOU
ADDITIONALLY:
YOU ARE NOT ‘PHASED’. YOU ARE ‘FAZED.’
IF IT HAS BEEN A VERY LONG DAY, YOU ARE ‘WEARY’. IF SOMEONE IS ACTING IN A WAY THAT MAKES YOU SUSPICIOUS, YOU ARE ‘WARY’.
ALL IN ‘DUE’ TIME, NOT ‘DO’ TIME
‘PER SE’ NOT ‘PER SAY’
THANK YOU
BREATHE - THE VERB FORM IN PRESENT TENSE
BREATH - THE NOUN FORM
THEY ARE NOT INTERCHANGEABLE
WANDER - TO WALK ABOUT AIMLESSLY
WONDER - TO THINK OF IN A DREAMLIKE AND/OR WISTFUL MANNER
THEY ARE NOT INTERCHANGEABLE (but one’s mind can wander)
DEFIANT - RESISTANT DEFINITE - CERTAIN
WANTON - DELIBERATE AND UNPROVOKED ACTION (ALSO AN ARCHAIC TERM FOR A PROMISCUOUS WOMAN)
WONTON - IT’S A DUMPLING THAT’S ALL IT IS IT’S A FUCKING DUMPLING
BAWL- TO SOB/CRY
BALL- A FUCKING BALL
YOU CANNOT “BALL” YOUR EYES OUT
AND FOR FUCK’S SAKE, IT’S NOT “SIKE”; IT’S “PSYCH”. AS IN “I PSYCHED YOU OUT”; BECAUSE YOU MOMENTARILY MADE SOMEONE BELIEVE SOMETHING THAT WASN’T TRUE.
THANK YOU.
*slams reblog*
IT’S ‘MIGHT AS WELL’. ‘MIND AS WELL’ DOES NOT MAKE GRAMMATICAL SENSE.
SLEIGHT - DEXTERITY, ARTIFICE, CRAFT (FROM ‘SLY’) SLIGHT - VERY LITTLE, FRAIL, DELICATE
IT’S ‘SLEIGHT OF HAND’.
CAN I ADD TO THIS TOO?
IT’S NOT ‘COULD OF’, THAT DOESN’T MAKE ANY SENSE WHATSOEVER. IT’S ‘COULD HAVE’. SAME APPLIES TO ‘SHOULD HAVE’.
And this is why my students look at me as though I’m the devil when I try to tell them that no i’m not lying this really is a thing
IT’S ‘COULDN’T CARE LESS’ NOT ‘COULD CARE LESS’ IF YOU COULD CARE LESS THAT MEANS YOU CARE
it’s ‘couldn’t care less’ not ‘could care less’ if you could care less that means you care
^Haiku^bot^0.4. Sometimes I do stupid things (but I have improved with syllables!). Beep-boop!
I laughed so hard
as a person whose native language isn’t English, I truly appreciate this
The producer of SCP describes NEWS as follows:
Koyama Keiichiro
Top Class at Having Member Love
The spokesman of NEWS. He stands in front to build the bridge between other three members and staffs. So he’s always looking at the group and I think he has the most love towards the members despite that other members have the strong love towards each other as well. He understands each member’s characteristic well, so he’s really good at leading the conversation. He just skims through the script and understands the key points well. Moreover, he observes the staffs a lot and gives various helpful suggestions for the process to go through more smoothly. He’s a spokesman, as well as a producer. He’s constantly thinking about how people around him can be comfortable!
Kato Shigeaki A Great “Balancer”, a Mom Figure of NEWS
He has so much depth as a person that you can’t describe him in one word. Because unlike anyone I’ve seen, he has this ability to look from broader perspective and capture the meanings and nature of things in a unique way. He certainly has a different perspective from that of Koyama San. Let’s say that if Koyama San is looking at that day’s shooting then Kato San is looking at the show in long span. Because those two can look things in different ways, they have such good balance: Koyama San is the frontal leader while Kato San is the backstage leader. I think it’s the best to describe them as a dad (Koyama San) and a mom (Kato San).
Masuda Takahisa An Idea Man Who is Always Willing to Learn and Loves to Eat
He has a strong preference on music so he goes to see other groups’ concerts to educate himself, and he puts forth his thoughts and opinions when deciding on members’ parts to sing as an idea man. He’s usually very creative and unpredictable as we all know. So during the shooting of the show, it’s always impossible to figure out what he is going to do, in a good way, and that’s always exciting. There are times when he hits right onto that jokes, but there are times when he fails (lol). Also, a lot of time staffs are worried if the casts like the Bento lunch they has prepare for them. But with Masuda San, he ate two whole Bentos in the morning the other day and even asked if he can bring some home. I personally like that side of him so much.
Tegoshi Yuya Talent That Can Turn Anything Into Something Fun
With such outstanding entertainment strength, the show will definitely going to be great! That’s the kind of trust we have for him. When we think it’s the right moment, we usually ask him to do something. Because he always responds to our request no matter what it is. He has this talent to turn everything into something fun. He has the mind of “if you are doing something, why not make it fun?” So even though it’s something that he is not interested in, he looks to find something fun in it. And that leads into bringing up the motivations for those around him. He brightens up everyone’s mood just by being there, and I am so thankful for that. Of course, his stability in singing is excellent. In rehearsals, he will causually say “I will do harmony” and effortlessly does that. With his presence, he leads NEWS in the music field as well.

Please tell us your impressions when you first heard the song “TOKYO MERRY GO ROUND” Yudai: The moment when I heard it, my instant reaction was “Ah, it’s good!”. The melody from the bridge was stuck in my head as soon as I listened. This is just my opinion, but if the bridge is strong, the entire song will also be strong. So I liked it just from that!
Hayate: We heard some other songs besides “TOKYO MERRY GO ROUND”, but even after returning home, only this song was stuck in my head for some reason. Even after listening to “TOKYO MERRY GO ROUND” several times, it remains as impressive as when I first heard it. I was excited about the choreography right away, based on how catchy the song is.
This time the music was produced by Komorita-san, who has worked with many famous artists.
Taiki: Komorita is a Japanese hit songwriter who everyone knows, and we grew up listening to his songs. This particular genre may be one I haven’t heard often, but the sound still reminds me of the nostalgic feelings of growing up. Recently, Da -iCE songs have been EDM type, so I think that this song will feel fresh for fans.
When the fans listen to ‘TOKYO MERRY GO ROUND’ , what should they pay special attention to?
Sota: I want you to imagine yourself as the main character of the story that appears in the lyrics. If you have someone you care about, imagine a scene where you’re escorting them through the world we’re portraying (Laugh). I also recommend singing it to that person at karaoke.
In lyrics you’re viewing love with a gentleman’s eyes. Would you like to escort the one you love on a date using those kinds of words?
Toru: That’s right. I’d like to try it, but shouldn’t I not be doing something like that at the moment? (laughs). But, since I like movies, I think it would be nice to go to the cinema. Also, I’d like to eat something delicious … … that type of thing. An ordinary date is ideal. And when I’m inviting the one I love, I’d say “Wanna date~?” in the Kansai dialect.
Taiki: I would like to try, but in a relaxed way. Someone who leads too much during a date comes across looking like a bad guy. Just choose a plan and see it through smoothly. I would listen to my date’s ideas. If you do not consider them properly, the date will just be a clash of egos. When inviting someone, I will first suggest something and see if they’re open to it
Yudai: I think the most important part is deciding where to eat? Somehow when you select that well, the rest goes flexibly. By the way, I’m the type who likes to lead, so I’d be able to execute the invitation quickly
Sota: All you do is ask people to go fishing! (laughs) You’re such a goof! Hayate: (laughs). I want to lead, but honestly, I also want to leave it up to the other person. There are things that I’d probably like to do with the person I loved … but I’d just wind up blanking out (laughs). When inviting, I think it’s better just to ask “Are you free at this time?” rather than being over serious.
Sota: Because there are a lot of places I don’t enjoy as much going on my own, like bookstores, maybe I’d ask my date to go with me. It would be enjoyable to go to a place like that. If it was a dinner or lunch invitation, I’d just ask "Are you free today?“ like Hayate
Thank you for your very helpful suggestions, especially for our male readers. Sota-san, since you wrote the lyrics to coupling song "Waruguchi” of the this time, how was the process?
Sota: I’ve co-written songs before, but this was my first time doing it entirely by myself. I think it really helped my gauge by ability as a lyricist
When writing the lyrics, did you rely on your experiences for inspiration?
Sota: Well, I guess it’s inevitable that I did? I rewrote the words many times and changed various nuances as well. The production period lasted around 2 weeks when I was working on the first draft. I did another week of rewrites, so it took almost a whole month. It became a song filled with a lot of emotion and dedication for me.
Please tell us your goals / prospects for the future in 2018 for the 5th anniversary year of Da-iCE’s debut!
Toru: “TOKYO MERRY GO ROUND” is a great song to open our fifth anniversary, so we’ll keep picking up the pace from here!
Yudai: It is a great pleasure to start our memorable 5th anniversary year with the bright and happy “TOKYO MERRY GO ROUND”. In 2018, I would like to do my best with all my strength so that it will be an especially enjoyable year. I hope we can do something to surprise you during our lives! Taiki: Because we are a group which cherishes our lives, in 2018 I would like to aim for performances that everyone would like to go see. I want to brush up our lives more than anything else. I want lots of people to see us when we go on tour!
Hayate: Although I can’t say it yet, we’re doing some exciting things this year, so I hope you will be patient and look forward to it~! What I want to do personally … I am still thinking (laughs).
Sota: I would like to go to the next phase with the sixth side of Da-iCE, our fans!
Toru: Concretely speaking, what would you like to do with them?
Sota: Lots of things ~! I want to do something like a sports day and so on (laughs)! Something musical and playful we could do while interacting with our fans!
Hayate: Sports day party ! It does sound interesting (laughs).
