Dottie stood on the roof of the abandoned Gotham Opera building. Watching Oshín pounce on a loose feather while she waited for Kat.

It hadn't taken long for Kat to get there, she'd handed off childcare responsibilities to her eldest and taken off.

Before she approached the Opera house, she dimmed the green glow she was emanating so she wouldn't be spotted.

She landed on the roof, the costume dissipating into thin air.

"Hi."

“Hi. I missed you. Even though— well. You were still here, sort of.”

Keeping a discrete eye on teen Kat had been hard, but it hadn’t been the same as seeing her appropriately-aged friend.

Was she stalling? Nooo…

"I missed you too. And I didn't even get to see how you were as a teenager."

Kat huffed. There was something slightly... off about her. A bit more like her teenage self had been. She was smiling, she wasn't avoiding eye contact with Dottie like her younger self had. But there was still something distinctly different in her manners.

Dottie clocked the slight differences in Kat’s usual behaviour. She couldn’t quite put her finger on how it was off, but it was just different.

“Oh nobody wants to meet teenage Dottie again. Not even me.” She said lightly, trying to keep it easygoing.

"I remember what I was like at that age. She cannot possibly be worse than dealing with Miss 'I'm overthrowing the government and you can't stop me." Kat said. "I had already broken into, like, three government facilities at that age."

She didn't even hesitate when she said it, as if it was an obvious fact everyone knew about.

“Different trouble,” she replied. “Although teen Dottie didn’t believe in locks either.”

She’d been an amateur investigative reporter for her high school newspaper.

“I did want to overthrow Cobblepot’s mayorship though.”

"Their behaviour was probably natural, considering how they grew up. I for my part don't regret it."

She didn't; despite what it had personally cost her, it was worth the price. And in the end, she'd gained more than she lost.

"And overthrowing Cobblepot is a noble endeavour."

She might act as part of the law these days, but she hadn't lost all her revolutionary spirit.

“I’ve always been at least this troublesome,” she laughed softly. “This isn’t even the first time I’ve pissed off a local crime family.”

When she’d written about the former Gotham City Child Support Services being a child trafficking ring, and it had been dismantled, she’d angered at least three of the local crime lords who were invested in the venture.

But teenage Dottie had been more trouble for other reasons.

Oshín makes a very good argument. He is the cutest boy ever and he does deserve all the treats.

Why is Arkham looking for you? @raven-thewaygate

Falcone warned me if any information about him got leaked, then I would pay.

I'd get a hotel room with cash for a bit. If what I hear from the bats is he has eyes and ears all over that city. ... Also hi.

Currently he’s out of jurisdiction in a non-extradition zone but that doesn’t mean he doesn’t have eyes

…hi. I didn’t realise we were talking again. Aren’t you still pissed at me?

Yes. But I can be mad and not want you dead.

Well, you don’t need to worry. Falcone doesn’t want me dead.

Or subjected to medical/mental health care against your will.

Well that you might have to worry about…

Sometimes Poison by Alice Cooper comes on and you have a crush on Ivy. I’m sorry I don’t make the rules.

Charmed. Love that song, one of my favorites.
