damn, now I want a christmas romcom fic for young x rush 😵💫 yeah, totally out of character shit, but come on, camille and co trying to set them up, young and rush instantly hating each other over something, rush being the usual grinch, them getting to know each other slowly, eli and chloe being the happiest christmas kids, greer and scott doing some stupid things getting themselves in the weirdest situations, the gang making young being the santa, telford dying from laughter in the corner over that, brody and volker are the reindeers, tj and varro hiding in the closet for the kissies, riley wisely drinking hot cocoa telling rush to stop being a jerk and accept his attraction to mister santa, rush looking at him while kill bill sirens are playing in his head, definitely was not a cocoa in that mug was it, anyway, by the end maybe rush and young will get along and realize maybe kissing each other is not such a bad idea 🤷
out of context/last line tag
thank you @aintgonnatakethis for the tag :)
"Rush, why am I here?" "Because I don't have the science team." Rush quipped, not glancing up from his notebook. The corner of Young's mouth twitched. "You're comparing me to the science team?" "More fittingly, I'm comparing the science team to you."
i giggled while writing this and i hope you giggle while reading it too. it's from a hefty long-haul fic i've been planning for like two months and just started writing. unfortunately i am not a writer who can publish in chapters (that being said, i've never tried) so i imagine this will not reach The Masses for a while.
@beantrees @17-gnomes-inmypockets + open tag!!
hey you should go read this sgu fanfic! yeah its 540,000 words! its got really cool science in it the author knows what they're talking about! the characterization is really good! the young x rush slowburn is perfect! oh yeah itll also tear you to shreds and reassemble you at least half a dozen times and you will feel empty for weeks after you read it! but its so fun!
what if were both guys. and we were lost in space together, but we absolutely hated each other. and then i framed you for murder. and then you beat me up, knocked me unconscious, and left me for dead on an alien planet billions of lightyears away from earth♥️
and what if i led a mutiny against you <3
cleanwhiteroom posting Ad Noctum again this week and rewatching Air part 1-3 with my dad yesterday sent me into an SGU spiral, and as a result my notebook has a new doodle-filled double page spread of CWR/SGU tribute. At the top we have AdNoc!Rush, Math!Rush, FoD!Rush, AdNoc!Rush again (but this time with crystals and goop), then Young, Eli and Rush who I drew whilst watching Air, followed by the desert planet they end up on in part 3. Then we have a ‘cover’ for At All Angles, aka my favourite arc in Force Over Distance. Been a while since i drew all these guys but it was so much fun! Also the gate is weirdly relaxing to draw….
let's talk about the ending of sgu
i know it's rough because it was cancelled. it wasn't supposed to end that way. there was supposed to be more. but all the same, i still really love the ending and have been wanting to share my thoughts why. (recent rewatch with my newest convert @beantrees inspired most of this)
sgu is absolutely meant to be a show about imperfect people. i find it absolutely fitting that they get an imperfect ending. they don't get resolution, or closure, or everything tied up in a neat bow, because they shouldn't. doing so would take away a lot of what i love about the show, which is the grit and the humanity of flawed people making bad decisions in a broken ship. their flaws would be disregarded and discredited by a perfect, happy ending.
and, also, i know this is the cop-out answer, but you truly can make your own ending. because regardless of how much the show told you about the characters and where they ended up, you would always wonder about what happened next. did chloe and eli get married? how did rush die? hell, what did young eat for breakfast the day after the finale? this ending leaves a bit more to wonder, but you would've wondered and dreamt up something anyways.
anyways :) in retrospect, seven years after seeing the finale for the first time, i've decided like the ending. i'm happy with it. i think it's fitting.
