people love to demonize anger and label you as a sort of failed trauma recovery story if you’re even slightly angry about the way you’re treated and I just think that’s so stupid. sometimes people are mad for 100% justifiable reasons and you should just let them be mad instead of having a superiority complex about it
The day people stop perceiving anger as this inherently malevolent emotion and try to portray it as such is the day I can truly live in peace. Don't even get me started on separating one's actions from how someone feels.
#there's a lot of aspects of the emotional spectrum that i'd be perfectly fine with being lectured on#anger and hatred are NOT one of them. i know better than anyone there's nothing wrong or inhumane in anger itself. it bothers me to no end#when many try to bring a person down because they felt anger when faced with flawed judgement.#when they picture it as this always harmful parasite that'll eat you alive and is sooo different from the rest. like no tf it isn't!?#anger is a reaction like any other‚ it's just as real as sorrow‚ fear and love. only difference is most of them are constantly glorified#while others are thrown in the dirt for simply existing as an integral part of the human experience.#em yaps

inexplicability/unknowability in art is not often understood as an intentional artistic decision, let alone respected as one. I'd almost call it entitlement on the part of audience, but it's not even that, really. it's a complete inability to ask - was this ever meant to be understood in full? is there a reason why it wouldn't be? is it uncomfortable to think about? maybe it is supposed to be uncomfortable to think about.
there is a discomfort often present when you don't understand everything about a piece of art and i feel like many audiences are eager to smooth it over & fill in the gaps with their own understanding so they don't feel uncertain about it. but sitting with that discomfort is so important to interpreting art! even with works that DON'T have an intentional sense of preserving mystery, you just aren't going to understand a piece of art 100% even if you want to. figure out why you don't understand it. think on it. let that sense inform part of the art for you. it will give you a much more rounded approach to media criticism!
