@melphss and I are so excited to finally share this incredible fanart we commissioned with Letícia Bueno (tomandosal), who is an amazing artist.
The final chapter of A Court of Silver Flames begins by mentioning the arrival of spring, and I like to think of this as the beginning of a new cycle for Nesta, not only because she was born in spring, but because the season itself carries a symbolism of renovation and transformation.
Symbolic is also that after Nesta embraces the title of Valkyrie, the last part begins, which is titled with the name of her sword.
“Ataraxia” would be experiencing happiness in a heightened way, controlling fears and desires in a stable and balanced way, consequently reaching a state of tranquility and absence of disturbances and passions.
This absence, however, cannot be confused with apathy, characterized by the loss of sensitivity in relation to external stimuli. The feeling nothing that Nesta thought she wanted as an immediate solution to dealing with everything that was affecting her.
Nesta’s choice at the end of the book is to feel everything, to experience everything, to live, despite the difficult moments that will continue to exist, because she understood this balance is possible and significantly because she became a Valkyrie.
