I want a fic where Arthur married Gwen for an heir, because they were good friends and he knew he wasn’t going to fall in love with a woman because he didn’t feel that way about them (especially because he’s in love with his manservant, but he’s in denial about that); and she had lost Lancelot so agreed to marry him.

But unlike the show, the friendship between Merlin and Gwen isn’t forgotten, and Gwen knows about Merlin’s magic, so the two of them are roaming round the castle trying to stop magical threats together. And Arthur, of course, puts two and two together and gets “affair” and is wildly jealous and thinks it’s because Gwen is his wife when it’s really because he is in love with Merlin.

Gwen knows Merlin is in love with Arthur - look, they’re besties, and she didn’t realise when she married him, but she’s discovered since,can’t she’s sympathetic - and she ends up yelling that she can’t be having an affair with Merlin “because he’s in love with you, you blind idiot!” Arthur’s like “…” “!!!” and has his own epiphany which he really should have had a long time before because Gwen knew he was in love with Merlin when she married him, for goodness sake!

But they still have to tell him about the whole magic thing, so they have to get over that hurdle before they can settle down, realising that - well, Gwen was going to have to stop rushing round helping Merlin anyway, because she’s pregnant, so perhaps Arthur could take her place.

And since the heir situation is sorted, and no one would really question if Arthur’s manservant moved into the antechamber, especially now Gaius has died (sorry Gaius), Merlin could nicely warm the King’s Royal bed… at least, until he becomes Court Sorceror and Dragonlord, at which point a little known law about having a Queen and Prince Consort will suddenly be found on the records. Ah, the joys of the Old Religion, which has no hang ups sbout such things.

And they all coparent the child happily.

I want this fic. I really want it.

Summary

Gabriel had lived a long life. First, as a Messenger of God (and there had been funny episodes, like when he had announced to Mary that she would become the mother of the son of God, or when he had taken away the voice of the one who did not believe him), and then as a Trickster, perfect in his role as an avenger. Not that it was too different from the work he already did, if Gabriel allowed himself to really think about things.
