i'm actually so glad i didn't answer this ask all those years ago because now i actually HAVE played stardew and i'm a little too obsessed with this idea,,,
BIG YES on ben and klaus as sebastian and sam omg!! and allison is sooo penny
i think for the rest of the characters these are my initial thoughts:
- luther - gunther
- diego - kent
- allison - penny
- klaus - sam
- five - mr. qi
- ben - sebastian
- viktor - maru
- lila - jodi (or abigail) (or sandy)
these are all mostly based on vibes but i have some small thoughts
i want luther to be gunther because i think he deserves to be in a little nice museum with all his favorite things,,
diego is kent because he's forced to settle down after a life of ✨war✨. except diego is more unhinged about it and their motivations are completely different but i like the idea of diego showing up in the town one year after everyone
allison is penny bc they just act a lot like each other
klaus is sam because they both have "chronic :D" on their faces
FIVE IS MR. Q BECAUSE IT'S SILLY and i think he's a little fucked up. alternatively, commission!five is mr. q and five himself is like,, george or something
i'm not explaining ben as sebastian, it just fits too well
I STRUGGLED WITH VIKTOR. i didn't know if he should be gus (bc he owns a bar in s4), or maybe haley (so that he and allison can be haley and emily!) but in the end i like him as maru,, bc viktor and ben are close in-canon, so it would be interesting to have them live under the same roof here, especially since the carpenter's family has ✨issues✨ in the game too
lila i also struggled with. aesthetically she is SOOO sandy to me. then abigail fits her personality. but jodi is married to kent. so i think she's kind of a mix of all three characters SJDHSJ
ANYWAY let me know your thoughts and feel free to add/change stuff, i'm gonna be thinking about this for a while
