Jeongguk was boring, or at least as boring as a city boy could be. That’s all there was to him. Sure he had his talents and hobbies, but he felt like he was boring- he never really did anything. He had just finished his first year of university, but he wasn’t sure he wanted to go back since it was hard for him to adjust and buckle down to do what he wanted. It was the beginning of summer when Jeongguk decided to take his gap year all while his friends Yoongi and Jin were already off to Daegu since they had decided to transfer out there for Yoongi to be closer to his family. Jin followed so he would have a place to stay because his parents were away on business trips for the rest of the year. It left him with sadness and it upset him to see his friends leave him while he went back home and stayed with his parents while he looked for a job so he could get his own place so he wasn’t stuck there for the rest of his life.
Going back to Busan was surreal to him; seeing all of his old surroundings reminded him of all of his childhood memories of his old friends and where he used to play as a kid, but his parents' house made him feel bittersweet about coming back. He hadn’t been back since Christmas time. He didn’t go back for spring break- he’d ended up going to Daegu with Jin and Yoongi because Yoongi wanted to introduce Jin to his parents since they had officially been dating for a little over four months and he thought it was finally time for him to meet them after so long. Jeongguk only tagged along because he didn’t want to go back to Busan yet. In fact, he wasn’t even sure if he wanted to go back to university after spring break because he was so stressed, and nearly failing all of his classes. It was a reality check when he was put on academic probation and the only thing he could do was get his grades up, even if it meant suffering. However, Yoongi and Jin put him in his place and helped him study and get them back up, so he was officially off academic probation by the end of the year, but now that he’s been there and it was all over, he’d decided to take a break- he needed it. He’d go back next year when he was ready and everything would be fine.
