. . . ( give my muse a kiss )
Early morning was the perfect time to practice archery. The field down the hill from castle DunBroch was typically quiet at that hour, making it much less likely for someone to accidentally walk in front of a target. Merida had of course insisted on joining in on a little sunrise archery, to which Quinn eagerly accepted... as if she would have had any choice!
"Okay, how about... the first one to hit three perfect bullseyes consecutively gets the loser to run back to the castle to bring them breakfast. Deal?" Quinn laughed as they picked up their bows, shaking her girlfriend's hand with an oh-so-suave wink.
The brunette coolly pulled an arrow from her quiver and began to set it, pausing as Merida pressed a quick kiss to her freckled cheek. "What's this? A good luck kiss?" she giggled, eyes stretching wide as the Princess expertly drew her arrow back and hit one bullseye. "Okay, that was just luck! Hold on!"
She finally managed to at least draw back her arrow, the fletching brushing against a scar on her cheek. However, she stopped from loosing as another kiss pecked at her temple. "Woman, please! I love you, but that's GOTTA be cheatin'!" Green eyes stretched wide as Merida hit a SECOND bullseye before Quinn had even managed to shoot ONE arrow.
At this point, she knew her love's game and that she was running out of time! Quinn hurried to line up the perfect shot once more, confident that if she picked up the pace she perhaps had a chance at winning. Right as the arrow was about to be loosed, she felt a third kiss to her shoulder, the arrow soaring to the target... and missing the bullseye by no more than a hair. Mouth agape, Quinn turned to Merida who was already back in position... and her arrow sailed dead center for the third time.
"You! You're...!" she tried to get out, gesturing her arms about as she dropped her bow to the ground. Finally, she busted up into laughter. How could one woman be so adorable and cruel?! "Why, I outta!" Quinn hurried to Merida's side and wrapped her arms around her waist, hoisting her beloved over her shoulder and stomping in the direction of the castle. "Rules rescinded! I'm not walkin' back all the way home ALONE! You cheated!"
