I was a little mean last night about Z-A continuing to be proven as SV’s replacement and I am genuinely excited for it. Kalos is my second-favourite region (favourite is Paldea of course) and I love the (probably mostly unintentional) connections I’ve noticed between Kalos and Paldea (like the starter trios consisting of a popular one, a furbait mammal with similar styles to each other who are both 4’11” (my favourite of the starter trio) and an unpopular Fighting-type that happens to be the tallest of the trio (a close second for me. Genuinely wouldn’t mind if I could choose them instead and I actually did choose Quaquaval in Scarlet because on a second playthrough I might as well choose the starter I really wanted but chose the one I preferred over it in my first playthrough) as well as each section of the leagues having the same gender ratio (4 males to 4 females for the gym leaders who are actually in the same order as well plus the types for the first, seventh and eighth match up perfectly between both leagues, 2 males to 2 females for the Elite Four and the Champion is female). Plus I think Diantha’s theme colour being white with gold accents and Geeta’s theme colour being black with blue accents is cool and makes them match very well with each other. Heck, Geeta even has two Kalosian Pokémon on her team with Gogoat and Avalugg and Gogoat is replaced by fellow Kalosian Grass-type Chesnaught in rematches. Edit: they also both trade you the unevolved form of their ace. Both of those traded Pokémon are female and Modest)

Another fun thing about pairing Falcon with Wake and Robert with Leaves is that Wake is a special fighter and Leaves is a physical fighter and I like to have Falcon fight more on the magical side due to the belt (even though his Smash moveset is a brawler moveset and he has a gun) while the rare times Robert attempts combat I like to imagine he has to fight in a more physical way (also if he joins Smash I want him to be an echo of Falcon). Since we’re on the topic I also think Robert and Leaves are both the more dominant members of their relationships just for different reasons (Falcon isn’t as confident in a relationship as Robert meanwhile Leaves is psychic and can use that to identify when Wake wants what kind of attention)

And another thing, I like to imagine that most of the hugs between Wake and Leaves are fluffy (as in the trope although Wake is definitely very fluffy) and if one of them has just had some kind of success they’re also very supportive meanwhile a lot of the hugs between Falcon and Robert (post GX story mode though to be fair I rarely imagine them starting their relationship earlier than that) are Robert trying to calm Falcon down after losing control of his powers

I was looking at the lyrics to Screaming For Vengeance last night while listening to it because turns out I don’t know the lyrics at all and I know they’re just normal words normal people use but I couldn’t help but notice a line that starts with “leaves” and ends with “wake”. Like this is a perfectly normal sentence but Pokémon is my main special interest and my top two favourite Pokémon are Iron Leaves and its Scarlet counterpart Walking Wake, who I tend to shorten to Leaves and Wake respectively (I don’t tend to list Leaves first but I decided since the line has the words in that order I’d do it that way anyway. Listing my favourite before my second favourite probably makes things slightly less confusing when saying what my top two are)

Huh so that’s why Shiny Wake isn’t available in Pokémon Scarlet - it got lost in Big Blue. I wouldn’t complain to be fair, it gets to listen to this

I think the Mach Rider (especially if you take her “Yukko design” as canon) would have a natural affinity for the Fire-type similar to Ayumi’s natural affinity to the Water-type, especially given how humanoid their starters tend to be (with the exception of the dirge but I’m more than willing to give her Quaquaval in Paldea instead)
