the other day i learned that taking a long time to fall asleep is called โ€œsleep latencyโ€ which is just the funniest thing to me tbh

me, tossing and turning until 2 am: the lagโ€ฆ

napping is easy because your brain is connecting to the Sleep Server at low traffic hours for your region.

when everyone is trying to get on the Sleep Server during high traffic hours, night in your region, the lag is at its worst and many people canโ€™t even connect to the server at all thatโ€™s why falling asleep at night is hard thank you for coming to my ted talk

Lowkey starting to hate the term "crash out" because half the time I've seen it used its literally just someone having an episode of mental illness

Fuck off if you call someone's crisis a "crash out"

it's kinda comforting to me when my friends are a little annoying or longwinded or abrasive or tired and inarticulate, or they don't do the exact politest thing in every interaction, and stuff, because I know I'm sometimes annoying, or take up a more than my share of conversational space, or forget to ask them questions, etc etc, and... like, I'm always working to be nice to my friends and to get better and better at friend-ing, but it just makes me feel more human about it :}

anyway I love you friends plz know I'm not counting, in fact I feel great affection toward you even (especially) when conversations go less than Perfectly Ideal

I'm not proud to say it but this line from a 60 year old detective novel made me re-think some things about friendship

[ID: Excerpt from the novel Darker than Amber by John D MacDonald on slightly yellowing paper that reads:

"You can be at ease only with those people to whom you can say any damn fool thing that comes into your head, knowing they will respond in kind, and knowing that any misunderstandings will be thrashed out right now, rather than buried deep and given a chance to fester."

/ End of ID.]

one day misogyny will die out and, in turn, radfeminism and terfism will die out too and men and women will be best friends forever and never have to fight again

Everyone saying "humans will always find something to fight over" missed the mark so hard.

Whether or not you belive that humans will always bicker to some degree, you can't seriously believe that discrimination and bigotry is a destined feature of humanity. I don't care what your view of humanity is on the level of "we'll never all get along and agree."

But to imply that any form of discrimiation is something that "just happens" obviously leads to the mentality of "well then why do we try to stop it?"

Genuinely, I'm just baffled. OP made a post about men and women not fighting over the basis of sex or gender, and some of you really went, "okay, but that won't happen" HELLO???

Will Wood music is so good itโ€™s like. Iโ€™m at a jazz show. Iโ€™m at a rock concert. Iโ€™m disassociating. Iโ€™m hyper aware of how my body looks. I hate modern society. Canโ€™t we go back to the 50s? Wait the 50s sucked too. Iโ€™m a vampire. Iโ€™m a werewolf. Iโ€™m incapable of love. I have so much love to give. Whatโ€™s my gender anyway? I am at a skeleton swing party in an animated film.

Thinking about a post I saw where somone said something along the lines of "as queer people we can't all possibly have the same goals with how varied our identities are, that's why sometimes there needs to be seperation."

And like... what does that even mean? My guess is that they were in the "LGB without the T" crowd, but like... I swear we all have a common goal??

I could almost swear that we all fight to dismantle heteronormativity, amatonormativity, and other norms that suggest a "default" experience. Isn't the point of this to not make assumptions about a person or their identity?? Is that not the end goal??

Maybe I'm not understanding something but... I really don't get that sentiment. At all.

We are a very very dumb, stupid people

Everyone deserves a little outlet today, grab a yummy snack, skirt a responsibility, play a cozy game - but no one is allowed to punish themselves on behalf of otherโ€™s ignorance. No one is allowed to keel over. Be a thorn in their side every day, and most importantly, be your own advocator. We live in spite of these people.
