I’m sorry this is still fucking me up because it’s kind of the straw that broke the camel’s back for me mentally and:
- (Binary) gender is really not an issue in this part of the world like. If someone can’t tell your gender, they ask you and you tell them and they say okay. kids or adults honestly
- this situation really goes back to a couple of ABT Trump-voting parents in the school who think they know better and wont shut the fuck up even though I tell them I'm a boy and they go home and their parents say I'm lying
- some rumor must have been going around because this doubt is coming from the class of kids i taught LAST YEAR who KNEW i was a boy so i have NO idea wtf is going on and I asked them what gender they thought I was today and they said they didn't know????
- also almost none of these parents have met me OR they've had a maximum of two conversations with me
- I am legally and medically a male in this country and was hired as such and I've been dealing with coworkers misgendering me for two years. WHY should it be my job to correct them?
- Obviously in a situation like that where some other teacher STRAIGHT UP calls me a girl, that's going to confuse the students like wtf???
- This is a pro-LGBT school which is why I came to work here but I'm finding out they really mean "pro-cis gay men" and idk WHY they can't have my back a little better
- Like it shouldnt be asking a lot to have teachers just shut down rumors when they hear them and say Im a boy???? if theyre gonna be weird about it then of course the kids are
- this is all mostly happening because i do look quite androgynous but also do act a bit feminine on account of my gayness but honey it's not these kids business to know if im trans OR gay
Anyway I'd go to HR but they wouldn't know how to handle it and I'd go to my boss but he'd be uncomfortable and wouldn't see what the big deal is but if this keeps blowing up, im OUT of here next year. admin could have shut this down a longggggg time ago
If any other male teacher in this school got “accused” of being a girl so often while they have a male ass passport, the people doing it would have been called crazy or gotten in trouble for harrassment. Come to think of it, if I called any of my male coworkers a girl, I’d be in trouble to so?????
Like it’s literally not about transness in my mind it’s about respecting my damn documentation
(it's a good damn thing I'm not gonna be going on the overnight trip this weekend and sharing a room with boy students like ive always done or it would suddenly be a huge thing jesus christ)
