Anyway saints are just people you pray to that will pray on your behalf to God because they are closer to God. We can't be sure they're in Heaven, most of the time it's assumed they're in Heaven because miracles were attributed to them, about three majors ones and smaller testimonial miracles too. Anyone that died and is in Heaven is a saint, anyone can be one. And "praying" is just "speaking" to someone that isn't there out of faith that you will be heard and answered, you don't need big fancy archaic words for it to count, and it doesn't need to be directly to God. Or even for Him.
And when you pray to saints or Mary, it's not worshipping them like a false idol, which is a typical misconception branded against Catholicism by other Christian denominations. It comes from Kings being most likely to listen to their mother and their closest vassels. Same with praying to angels.
If praying to Pinkiepie or Sasuke Uchiha or whatever blorbo you hold to a standard of inspiration for salvation makes you feel close to the divine, well then, pray on, rockstars. It's no different from asking Facebook moms for thoughts and prayers.
Not to mention.... Haven't you ever heard of hyperbole or metaphors?? Maybe retake highschool literature while you're at it, christ alive.

third of all, religion isn't like build a bear. you don't get to pick and choose what parts you follow and what parts you don't. Saints and the Virgin Mary have been canonized and recognized by the catholic church. blorbos haven't. want to pray to whoever you want and claim it's fine because you're connecting to God anyways? you should become protestant.

Team implies you care anything more than your own pride, and implies there are enemies which— defeats the whole purpose of love thy neighbor? Do you think yourself God and able to cast stones when you went out of your way to come in with bad energy? And again, I am not picking and choosing, this is expressly what praying is. It is meant as a tool. Faith alone is not enough, praying alone is not enough. And if they don't believe in the faith anyway, coming in hostile and condemning them is honestly not going to make them want to listen or even consider anything you have to say when they can sense you have no intentions other than being an ass on the internet.
If people find solace in praying to a fictional character for comfort like they could to a guardian angel or saint, it is not any more of an offense than you "casting a stone" when you yourself aren't blameless.🤷

I'm calling you out as member of the faith spreading misinformation because the first thing you did was jump on a topic that held no insults whatsoever until you took things to an extreme like a troll and the person in question disengaged.
It's less Catholicism they like to insult, but jumped up Chreasters like yourself that victimize while actively picking fights for no reason and no substance. Repent and reflect, and maybe go volunteer or attend a local RCIA class if you actually want to make a difference in the community or learn your faith enough to be able to tell when something is actual blasphemy or a figure of speech that is in no way an attack on God or you.

Someday you're gonna need it, when you have to explain to God why you're being a bully on the Internet and in your heart, and sweat when you can't provide an answer beyond "I don't like them and I think myself above them". You are who I think of when I think of practicing Catholics, someone who genuinely cares about their religion and who doesn't use it as a weapon against others. Except for when they have to sadly police their own fellow "Catholics", but that's an extenuating circumstance.
At least for me, and also to my friend group as we've had a similar talk about religion and those who abuse it, I don't lump people like the woman you were arguing with in the main groups Catholics. It does suck that that entire thing had to happen in the first place, but growing pains still apply to beliefs. It's up to her now if she wants to take this as a learning moment, but from seeing further interactions I would be surprised if she did.
All in all, you bring a good and strong representation to Catholics, thank you for taking the time out of your day to explain what is wrong and right, I actually did learn stuff!
