I'm honestly just over here losing my mind about Winter. I fucking love her, new favourite character 100%.
As for the racism chapter, It wasn't random, it very particularly had a point in developing Winter as a character, and laying the groundwork for what comes after. Remember that we're reading it from Winters POV so all the comments about th world woman's obvious racism is Winters opinion, her assessment of the situation.
It's also showing us that these two have a routine and they've clearly done this before. Her friend pretends to be suspicious and weaponises other people's prejudice to cause a scene so that winter can steal shit. It's not shit that she wants. It's just petty revenge, acting put because they're both angry at the world and can't do anything about it.
!! i never thought about the chapter in that way, i tend to not think about winter too much at all in fairness but thank you for this

i had such a weird dream last night that basically i played valkyrie cain in the movies from book (movie) up to book 8 but had to stop because i cut my hair??? also something to do with me on a plane and it got shot with a bullet in the glass and it chipped and there was a small circle pool on this plane (the plane didn’t have a roof) and the chip fell in the pool so i went and jumped in this pool and i fell through and kinda just fell off the plane,, then there was this weird creature thing looking straight out of something H.r Giger would make at the back of the plane just sort of sitting there. OMG AND THEN i was on a bus (as valkyrie cain) and the bus was pure white on the inside and no one was there but the dead men (excluding skul) as like 11 year olds??? and i had numbered each bus row and no one was driving this bus but apparently that was all ok and it was moving and it was going to hit a building and then i screamed for the dead men to run to row 15 (the back back row of the bus) and then my perspective change to me just seeing the bus hit the building,, i was alive and ok so some reason i should of absolutely been dead but the dead men where not ok??? they where charred and burnt and not moving and then a fire started at the back where they where and i was screaming and running over and pulling them all off the bus. THEN they where not burnt and fine weirdly enough and i was walking through what looked like my primary school playground and skulduggery was there and i yelled at him ‘do you even care’ (i assume i meant about the dead men children nearly dying) and he ignored me,,,,
