The Mandalorian: Din Djarin's Mandalorian Armor & Helmet

Well, since The Mandalorian TV series is going to be a wrap & we're not going to see anything new until The Mandalorian & Grogu film drops, there is one thing I've been wondering about when it comes to Din Djarin's Mandalorian Armor & Helmet….

After his 'Battle of the Mudhorn', Din Djarin & his Mandalorian Armor suffered substantial injury/damage. Even though Djarin did a pretty good job repairing himself, it was quite obvious the Armor took the brunt of all of the damage inflicted by the Mudhorn, and certain parts would have to be replaced. And I liked how they showed Din using his tools to fix his armor; it reminded me of how Tony Stark would use his tools to work on his Iron Man Armor.

But what really struck me was the electronics, circuitry, cabling, tubing & wiring that was exposed just beneath the Armor plating. It seems that Din Djarin's Mando Armor is layered: Outside is the Beskar, while underneath lays the high tech circuits & components. Similar to the hardware that you may see on a circuit board, or what may be seen if you opened up a TV, computer, cell phone or other electronic device.

Although I knew the Mandalorian Helmet is very sophisticated & advanced, I never thought the same of Mandalorian Armor being that complex with electronic components embedded in the armor. I'm curious as to what all of the apparatus & gadgetry are for & exactly what are their functions/ purposes. I also noticed the inner workings of circuitry in a layer of the Armor matches the circuitry located in the interior of Din's Mandalorian Helmet.

Hopefully, some sort of detailed diagram, chart, blueprint, schematic or something similar will be released, showing the layers and the interior build of both Din's Armor and his Helmet.

Question for the Mandalorian hive?

What do we think this thing is:

This piece of equipment is stored in Din Djarin's weapons locker on board the Razor Crest. It has...pressure gauges, maybe? or are those switches?

It's got wires and its own kit...

Would love to know if someone has figured this out!

I know I'm super-late to the discussion, but I saved this to come back to when I had time and, well, I've only just managed to carve out some time 😔

It's a good question! I thought it might be easier to figure out if I enhanced it, but it's still unidentifiable. Here's my enhanced photo anyway:

Those definitely look like switches rather than pressure gauges, and they seem to connect to tubes that, in turn, connect to what looks like a wrapped packet of something at the bottom.

Could it be an explosive of some kind, maybe?

Although then you've got what looks like laces threaded through the sides and straps at the back, and I don't see the point of it being made out of material unless it's meant to be worn/carried/strapped to someone/something.

I wonder if the props department simply needed something else to go in his weapons cabinet and just threw something together that looked vaguely weaponised??

Sorry I have no answers, but I wanted to send you the enhanced photo anyway, just in case it helps you come up with any new ideas 😇

this is so helpful 🥹 thank you!!

The enchanced image confirms these are not pressure gaugues. But, you know what? I'm going to stick to my original theory anyway.

According to Wookiepedia, there are two kinds of blaster ammunition---one is blaster gas: "A small amount of which forms the particle stream when fired."

I posit this is a container used to purchase, carry, store, and refill the blasters inside the locker with gas?

I'm thinking:

  • Lacings expand when the container is inflated with gas, cinch closed when the empty container is folded for storage (softshell)
  • Straps are designed to carry the conatiner when filled, like a rucksack.
  • Tubes are for inflow/outflow of gas
  • Switches direct the flow of gas in and out of the container

Why three tubes? Eh...different types of gasses.

This is the theory I'm operating with moving forward because I NEEDED to resolve this question satisfactorily for my own sanity...

But please chime in, folks, if someone know more about whatever this is!

The first time you saw inside the Mandalorian’s weapons locker, your stomach leapt ominously into your throat. Sweat dampening your scalp from sleep cast a chill—despite the ship’s stale air—as all the blood in your veins went cold. You can still remember the panicked salivation that flooded your mouth, leaving a metallic taste to linger on your tongue.

It wasn’t the weapons that frightened you. You’d survived active combat in the war and had most recently worked for a galactic criminal cartel.

No. It wasn’t the weapons. It was the shock of realization, hitting you like a bolt from one of his blasters, that you were trapped on board this ship with a man who stood to make a lot of money off your death.

Or would he bring you in alive to claim the bounty?

Same @autumnwoodsdreamer! Is this information crucial to the scene I am writing...gods no. But I want to catalog everything in that locker and give it meaning!!!
