"Don't ask for guarantees. And don't look to be saved in any one thing, person, machine, or library. Do your own bit of saving, and if you drown, at least die knowing you were heading for shore.” -Faber, Fahrenheit 451 by Ray Bradbury

Catch is a big word. Doof would meet Kira by accident while doing an evil scheme in Japan, but every time Kira tries to write his name into the book it doesn't work for a different backstory-related reason. He's legally an ocelot, his parents were too poor for vowels, so that's technically not how his name is spelled, he's technically not a doctor, etc.

Kira gets so irate he launches into a rant where Perry the Platypus can hear him. Doof walks into the room mid-fight, and while he never actually understands what Perry has against the kid, if a platypus tells you to square the fuck up, you square the fuck up. The lab blows up in a way that incriminates Light in a dozen Kira-unrelated crimes and he gets arrested.

On his way to getting deported Doof finds the death note. He reads the rules and never even turns around to see Ryuk before calling it idiotic and tasteless, and spends the entire plane ride home deriding the very concept.

okay yeah you’re kinda right—

this better be in season 5

Live theater in the His Dark Materials universe must be wild. Surely an actor's daemon also has lines to recite, so their daemon's form probably also factors into casting decisions. Maybe some plays have vague character descriptions for daemons, but I bet other plays have really specific or central daemon characters. And sure, big-budget theaters can afford to hire a separate actor with a particular daemon to stand backstage while their daemon plays its part onstage, but community theaters don't have those kinds of resources.

Like if you're casting for Julius Caesar, surely the real historical Caesar had a pretty iconic daemon, right? Are you going to cast an actor with a pigeon daemon as Caesar and just have everyone suspend their disbelief that it's Caesar's lioness, ἁμαρτία?

Computers are very simple you see we take the hearts of dead stars and we flatten them into crystal chips and then we etch tiny pathways using concentrated light into the dead star crystal chips and if we etch the pathways just so we can trick the crystals into doing our thinking for us hope this clears things up.

How does it feel to be the most Galaxy Brained person in this entire thread

Well that certainly belongs on the post

why would this distress you friend the dead star crystal chips are just singing to each other with invisible ripples in the fabric of reality itself perfectly normal stuff

Whoever decided 5 am was the optimal time for a flight should be taken out back and beaten with wooden propeller blades.

Never gonna forget showing my roommate MASH after explaining it as a Korean War drama/comedy, then watching it in silence till the end where she turns to me and says that wasn’t a K-drama
