idk, man-
im into a lot of stuff. mainly on my autism swag. i like a lot of silly little animated characters. i write sometimes :)
they/them

I know I haven’t done this in ages, but since 1k of you weirdos (affectionate) decided to follow me for some reason, and because I have some free time before I start working my new position, I’m opening up fic requests again for a little bit.

Send as many as you like. I’ll prioritize five total, but I’ll eventually get around to any others that pique my interest. I miss doing these, and I think it’ll be fun! :p

My only rules are:

— Must be Rick and Morty related (but can include any characters not in the main ensemble, including oc’s).

— Nothing inappropriate involving minors/incest.

Request away! :D

Although it's funny that Morty is able to manipulate (if that's the right word) Rick so well even early on in the series, it is kind of sad when you consider that Rick seems to find a lot of sentimental value in objects - he keeps all the things he made for Beth as a child and, if the Hole is accurate, he kept parts of the robot from when he met Diane. I know that this wasn't something that was thought of/planned for RIck's character at the time this scene was written but you will never be able to convince me that Rick wasn't moved by Morty wanting something to remember him by.

This scene hit completely different when I realised that Rickbot is likely trying to come up with an excuse to stay because he can't leave Rick alone in this dimension while it goes to shit.

Rickbot talks about 'commitment', but he looks away from Morty as if he's either lying or trying to think of a reason. He could relocate the whole family, just like in Solaricks, and it's apparently a lot easier with portal travel ("Fuck! we gotta find a new timeline now! You know how hard that shit is without portals?"), so commitment feels like a weak excuse. It does seem like part of Rickbot’s programming, whether intentionally or not, includes protecting and having a good relationship with the rest of the family in addition to Morty. Rickbot has access to the portal gun and could easily take them all with him. To me, it seems like the only thing stopping him from doing so is the fact that he would have to leave Rick behind in the sub-basement.

If Rick did program this in, I wonder if he suspected that Rickbot would realise that the best way to protect the family would be to take them away from him and this was a failsafe against that specifically.

It's also interesting that this is the specific thing that makes Morty snap and question if Rickbot is a robot. Morty knows Rick best and he knows how out of character this is for him.

Today on things that made me roll my eyes a little…

Absolutely no hate to the commenter, I understand what they were trying to go for. I agree that Peggy Hill is a great, complex character. That being said, so is Beth! They’re different characters, but they’re both equally interesting matriarchs.

Beth is complex, dynamic, powerful, and full of female rage. Don’t get me wrong, I think there were times where the writing did her a disservice as a female character, but I think they’ve done a good job at exploring motherhood, marriage, sexuality, and generational baggage as it effects women growing up in our patriarchal society. Actually, one of the things I’m looking forward to seeing more of as the series continues is Beth (and possibly even Diane) growing and evolving in her relationships! (Also, don’t even get me started on equating Rick and Morty to Family Guy.)

Okay, rant over. Usually I just overlook these things, but this one irked me a lot for some reason… lol. xD
