β Dancing with your ghost
You sit on your bed and cry, you hold a gray shirt in your hand - Monty's shirt, he forgot it at your place. You smell the shirt, it still smells like Monty but unfortunately not as strong as at the beginning. You turn your head to the left, the first scene plays out in front of your eyes.
You and Monty are sitting on the floor in your room together and laughing at nonsense. It was dark in the room, only some light shone through the curtains. With you, Monty could switch off and didn't have to pretend. With you, he was safe. Monty leaned over and kissed you. One kiss from many to follow.
You smile at the memory, the evening had been beautiful. It was the first evening that Monty asked if he could stay.

The next memory played before your eyes, tears are now streaming down your cheeks and your chest ached at the memory.
You and Monty were laying on your bed, both of you lying on your back staring at the ceiling. Neither of you have said anything for several minutes, you just listen to the storm. Monty turned his head towards you, wanting to say something but struggling with himself. You smile at him encouragingly and fold your hands. After a few minutes you hear Monty whisper something.
"I love you". The first dear confession of many that will follow.

You sob and hug Monty's shirt to your chest, the following memory burned into your mind and heart.
You and Monty were eating out from Evergreen. You both had a great time and were just in a good mood. Monty had changed in the last few months, you two went out a lot and he didn't care if he was seen or not.
When you came out of the restaurant, there was a live band playing not far away and Monty quickly pulled you behind him. On the way to the park where the band was playing, you laugh because Monty was in such a hurry.
Lots of people danced to the music and Monty held out his hand to you.
"May I ask?" he asked gentlemanly and you giggle.
You grab his hand and you dance tightly embraced. The band played a quiet song and while you dance you talk quietly and make plans for the future. After the music has died down, you kiss passionately.
It was the last time you saw Monty alive.

So many memories of your time together are flashing before your eyes. You smile sadly, next to your bed was a framed picture of the two of you. You and Monty are grinning broadly for the camera, a few tears dripping onto the picture.
"I miss you so much," you whisper into emptiness and continue to stare at the picture.
"I miss you too," Monty said and you look up, startled.
Monty stood in front of your bed in his purple flannel shirt and smiled softly. You exhale shakily and Monty held out his hand. You stand up, knees shaking, and carefully grasp it. His hand was warm.
Monty pulled you into his body and started dancing with you."I don't know what to say," you say, sounding slightly overwhelmed. You stand in your room and dance with your dead boyfriend.
"You don't have to say anything, just enjoy the moment," Monty said, smiling. You return his smile and rest your head on his shoulder. After a while, Monty pulled away from you and gently cupped your cheeks.
"I know you miss me and believe me, I miss you just as much. But you gotta start living your life again, you can't hang on to me forever. You have to keep living M/N, promise me that,β Monty said, looking deep into your eyes.
Tears glittered in your eyes. βBut I love you," you whisper in a tear-choked voice. "I love you too," Monty replied kissing you softly.
As you separate, Monty takes a few steps back. He smiles. "Live your life baby, I'm always with you," Monty said, pointing to his heart.
You nod and wave Monty goodbye, a smile on your lips despite the pain.
