when liam joined vcarb last year, i’m not gonna pretend like i was a huge fan or anything. i liked danny ric, and while i could acknowledge that none of it was liam’s fault, i wasn’t super excited about the situation either way. but liam has absolutely grown on me over the course of his time at vcarb and his limited time at red bull, and i just cannot fathom why he has so many haters.
a lot of people cite him saying shit about how it’s his turn to have a chance at red bull and how he’s ‘not here to make friends’ as him being grossly arrogant, but almost word for word those sentiments have been expressed by jack doohan and oscar and we eat it up when they do it????
let’s be clear- christian and helmut sacrificing liam’s career based on two of the most fuck ass races i’ve ever seen as a formula one fan is just plain wrong. if we’re firing people based on the results of these two races being disappointing, and just horrible interpretation skills of the situation, we’d have to fire lewis and charles too. we know nothing that happened in these two races is their fault- but liam has fully never raced at these two circuits, is still adapting to driving a nightmare of a car, and we have no idea what his strategy team is telling him too.
it’s just ridiculous. i’m all for yuki getting a chance at the seat but, red bull’s absolutely cavalier attitude in manipulating young racers’ careers is representative of an organization destined for decay.
