This is a me problem: I fully enjoy The Wheel of Time Season 3 and consider it objectively good television. But I also have an id. There are minor book characters and specific dynamics that are of outsized importance to me. I was never expecting the show to give me exactly what I dream of, but it's unfortunate that Season 3 hasn't really delivered on any of my eclectic mix of favourite supporting characters:

  • Galad is essentially a different, and wholly unlikable character. Fine since he was never used right in the books and I feel like he only made it into the series at all because that Mat scene is a fan favourite. But I would have liked to see book-accurate Galad, who is androgynously pretty and very misunderstood due to his unusual personal philosophy.
  • There have been no Logain crumbs. He could still appear in the season finale but it's been a long time without my unproblematic fave!
  • I'm genuinely worried that my other, even more unproblematic fave won't even be in this adaptation. Which would be a mistake. Asmodean is not optional, he's a basic human need.

I should stress that I love what the show has done with Logain so far, and it's true to the books that he isn't around much. He's featured more heavily in the show than he was in the books! There's a good chance his overall character arc will be more satisfying than the book version. It's just unfortunate that his absence coincides with my disappointment over Galad (some dudebro using his name) and my Asmodean anxiety. Looking at the shape of Season 3, there wasn't really room for Asmo, so maybe he will be in Season 4 and be everything I have dreamt! But that's a long way off and I just want to know.

If the show won't give me my pathetic wet cat Forsaken, they better find a way to make up for it in Season 4 and beyond. Like cast a really really cute guy as Jahar Narishma, who is another one of my favourite minor supporting charcters. Narishma deserves his moment in the sun.

i agree with you!! we should've gotten logain crumbs already, given he's been in 9 episodes already, and they made it a point of saying he'd be sent back to the tower; so that makes me think he could be in the finale? but if he is, they should've shown us since the beginning of the season that he's been in the tower all this time (maybe just a background shot of him in the garden, or even nynaeve talking to him for foreshadowing reasons)

hi hi! you're my certified asmodean enjoyer moot and i wanted to know what headcanons or thoughts you have about him, and if you have a faceclaim/design for him! <3

Oh hii <3

My design for him is just this one, standard dark brown eyes and wavy hair, has the energy of both a wet cat and an attention whore.

I don't really do much headcanoning I mostly just Rotate Blorbo in Mind, but I love collecting character playlist, to better rotate blorbo in mind to. I haven't managed to collect a full playlist for asmo (suggestions welcome!) but some songs I associate him with are kamikazee - stripped by missio and darkness settles in by five finger death punch

For Asmo Thoughts like most asmo enjoyers I obviously wish he wouldn't have been killed off, both because I would have liked to see more of him but also because the idea of him throwing his lot in with rand and the light, genuinely but not because of any desire for self betterment, just due to seeing light's victory as his only shot at survival and standing by rand's side as a new shot at glory, is really interesting to me and I would have liked to see where it would have gone more.

Also fun fact the first time I read wot as a kid I was actually relieved when asmodean died bc I was really worried about all the forsaken as threats and didn't trust him around rand at all. Truly one of my biggest attitude changes on a reread.

Favourite asmodean moments include the one in the aftermath of the battle of cairhien, when rand wakes up in the morning to two people in his tent who have been worrying over him all night, and they are aviendha, who's in love with him. And asmodean

no tags so for my mutuals only... this is my asmodean design i guess??

for the rockstar au, let me know what you think!

Tinker: Do you know the song? Asmodean: I do indeed, I believe it went something like this *strums guitar* La-la-la, la-la-la-la-la, la-la-la, la-la-la-la-la. I just can't get you out of my head. Boy, your loving is all I think about. I just can't get you out of my head. Boy, it's more than I dare to think about...

"average green ajah survives 3 deadly injuries a year" factoid actualy just statistical error. average green ajah survives 0 deadly injuries per year. Impalements Alanna, who loves being thanked & survives over 10,000 each day, is an outlier adn should not have been counted

I appreciate that

  • After heavily implying that Valda can channel last episode, it was effectively confirmed here.
  • By extension, people who can channel are apparently just, obscenely hard to kill in the show, which makes a lot of apparent inconsistencies from previous episodes not, y'know, inconsistencies.

wait i must've missed this, where was it implied that valda can channel?

In 3.6 he could sense Alanna channeling from quite a ways away. And now in 3.7 he could see Bode and Eldrin's weaves.

ooooh i didn't remember thet 3.6 thing, thanks!! i wish they couldve explored this more

I mean they explored it more than they explored Jaichim being able to channel in the books.

it seems i also missed that entirely while reading😭

In early TGH (the scene in which he's referred to as 'the man who called himself Bors'), he expresses in narration the intent to become a Dreadlord. Dreadlords can all channel. It also neatly accounts for his apparent dislike of being a darkfriend, and the cognitive dissonance he clearly experiences when trying to serve the Shadow, if he only turned to the Shadow because he doesn't want to go mad and die.

i vaguely remember that now, and it makes a lot of sense, thanks!!
