ATTENTION LOKIUS LEGION!!!!

i was wondering if anyone would be interested in taking part in a “Lokius Week” to coincide with the first episode of the Loki series airing (9th-15th June)

during this week, we’d work from a list of daily prompts and post content inspired by said prompts.

the prompts would be simple so that it would be easy to participate, for example: time loop, key lime pie, the automat etc so that any kind of post can be made

to fill the prompts you could create: fic, art, playlists, gifsets, video edits, post clips, write meta, make memes, or discuss your favourite moments from episodes that coincide with the prompts!

i’d love for it to be an event that ANYONE in the fandom can participate in so we can all share our love for Lokius 🥹

please let me know if you’d be interested in participating and we can get it organised and start collecting prompts!!!

Seven Sentence Sunday

Thank you for the tags, @elodiah @kcscribbler @thosegayoldmen!!

I'm still working slowly on my WIPs. Most of them are nearly done, but I'm a chronic "I'm going to stop doing this because it's near the end" kind of person, so who knows when I'll actually finish them!

Until then, here's a snippet of something that I've reworked 100 times and that I need to leave alone.

“Alright, lemme get this straight...” Mobius sighed, rubbing his forehead in exhaustion. “You figured out how to control your time-slipping, and now you’re reliving the same day over and over, trying to solve the issue with the loom that, according to you, is bound to fail?” “Precisely. And every time I have to explain this to you, I lose an entire loop,” Loki replied, pacing anxiously between their desk and the shelves stacked with overflowing file boxes. At this point, he had dedicated more time to clarifying his situation to Mobius than on the loom-saving research that was laid out on the table, waiting to be studied. Mobius had looked completely baffled when Loki had pulled him aside to ask for his help in locating the best engineers in the multiverse. Mobius had simply pointed to O.B. before being yanked out of the room by his arm.

Seven Sentence Lines Sunday

Thank you for the tags, @elodiah and @justabigoldnerd! I've spent the last 8+ weeks on this fic posted late Friday, so I'm posting sentences from it instead, because oof.

"You're not wrong," Mobius says, and the pit of regret in his stomach only churns anew. It's a familiar feeling, these days, as much a part of the uniform as the button-down shirt and brown jacket. "But they're a shadow department. No written bylaws, not so much as a paper trail to say they exist. "And – well, it was one of those things that was just a sort of standing joke, a rumor nobody really believed. Nobody thought twice about." A self-deprecating snort. "The weirdos in the basement, that's all. The TVA equivalent of the X-Files, or something. I didn't –" He stops, unable to continue, and shakes his head. There's no point in saying he didn't know this was happening, because even if he had known? He wouldn't have done anything. Because he would have believed it was all according to the plan. What needed to be done. Necessary for the cause, for the mission. Looking the other way is by far not the worst thing any of them have done in the name of the TVA. So he is and would have been guilty; by inaction, by omission, by association. Guilty, plain and simple. "I'm sorry," he finally croaks, as if that makes up for any of it.

Reasons people may decline to comment or kudos on fanfiction they enjoyed:

  • They consider comments and kudos transactional compensation to the author, and they don't feel that the work was good enough to deserve compensation, or they don't believe they owe compensation to fan authors in general.
  • They consider comments and kudos as feedback, and they don't feel that the author wants or needs feedback from them.

However, comments and kudos aren't compensation, and they aren't even necessarily feedback either.

Comments and kudos for fan authors are:

  • encouragement to keep writing
  • reciprocation of a bid for connection
  • interaction with your community
  • confirmation that they're not the only one interested in their story

Please don't consider comments, or especially kudos, purely transactional or purely a form of feedback. Comments and kudos are a way to show authors in your community that you're glad they're there.

Authors aren't "entitled" to kudos or comments, but readers aren't "entitled" to fic, either.

Fanfiction is a community, and when an author repeatedly reaches out to their community for connection only to receive silence in return it is very discouraging and can result in the author withdrawing from the community altogether.
