Given that they're on/off in the comics, maybe they were taking some personal time- remember Nate rebounded to Domino when he divorced Wade. Which would also explain why they aren't mentioned as part of Wade's family. Messy divorce (and I mean messy. Wade was massively cut up about it) will do that.
DP calls DD "babe" and "daddy" but DD hates both DP and Spidey because they're both annoying (DD also says DP moves a lot like Wolvie, which is fuckin rude). It's an interesting dynamic.
